Transform your self and your trading!
I would say that this is perhaps one of the best books that I have ever read. Not just from a trading perspective, but in general, this book can truly transform you. For those who have got their spiritual calling, this book will help you in accelerating on your path and at the same time see the same effect in your trading career. Highly recommend it for those who are in search of consistency in their trading.

Mindfulness is key
Big takeaway.... Calm and peace of mind..... ( First thing to have as a trader but 99% traders avoid it)...

Uninteresting and boring to read
A book should keep the reader excited, curious and should motivate the reader to focus more. This is the second book in my life which turned out to be most uninteresting, boring, distasteful. I would actually advice the author to prepare a condensed version with concept of zen followed by simple example. My sincere apology for the author to give bad feedback but it is what it is. I wasted both money and time on this.

This book has given me really helpful insight into one of life's basic questions: "how come so many things don't work out the way I want?" We probably all ask ourselves that ... (not just the majority of day-traders who spend so much time feeling disillusioned with the returns). Trading is part of the modern world, but the book finds its answers in ancient philosophy. Like me, the reader will discover that whether the problem is in trading, or in any other area of life, the answer is basically the same. Our expectations, our ability to stick to the decisions we make, and our reactions to adverse events are all flawed. That has to be addressed before we can change how we deal with the market (and with life!). The book has started me on a new path. I'm looking forward to where it will lead. So ... yes, I recommend this book ... and not just for traders.

I stumbled across Peter Castle (or Taishin Shodo) when I learned of Van Tharp's death in March and read through the condolence page. Pete expressed his grief there under his name Taishin Shodo and talked about their time together with Van. I became curious about this Asian trader and googled him to possibly learn about and learn from Japanese trading culture. But he is Australian and has been running a successful trading site for years (I am not allowed to link here, just google "Peter Castle Trading"). I bought his first book "Mindful Trading Using Winning Probability", in which he goes more into the technicalities of trading than in the just released book "The Zen Trader". It took a long time for "The Zen Trader" to come out, but it was really worth it. Pete uses such a small 20-gram hammer to discreetly impart his wisdom to you - resulting in the effectiveness of a sledgehammer if your ears are open. Much of what Pete writes is not new. "Follow your system, be disciplined." All things I've read (literally) dozens of times before from Van Tharp, Mark Douglas, Michael Covel or the Market Wizards. But rarely with this clarity, this brilliant, inescapable logic. "Zen Trader" is a gem and Pete is brilliant. He does present trading systems within "Wealth Lab" again, but the honey is clearly his approach to trading. His trading models presented are captivating in their simplicity and pleasant statistics - however, I find his thoughts on trading and life more valuable. Each chapter is complemented by little trading episodes Pete has experienced, as well as classic Zen stories or thoughts. His writing style is enjoyable even for a German with limited English skills (I read the book once through in 72 hours - and will be working through it starting this weekend, with notes, with to-do notes, and more time to reflect on how I can embrace Pete's wisdom (and he is wise!) for me - to become a better person and trader. Thank you so much, Pete!

I needed a book on trading psychology, and Zen Trader came highly recommended by my mentors. I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The book provides a deep, insightful approach to mastering the mental game of trading, helping me understand how to stay disciplined, manage emotions, and maintain focus. From the moment I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. The flow, clarity, and depth of the content made it one of the most engaging trading books I’ve ever read. I felt so good while reading it, and I didn’t take a single break—it was that compelling. I will totally incorporate the methods outlined in this book into my trading routine. It aligns perfectly with what I’ve been searching for, reinforcing the importance of mindset alongside strategy. Zen Trader is one of the books I strongly recommend to other traders who want to improve their psychology and performance. A must-read!

Poorly written, incredibly expensive, basic ideas. You’d be much better off reading a book on Zen
