These books on making quilts with jelly rolls give clear directions as to how to sort the fabric, cut it and sew it so that there is minimum waste. They also advise as to which are suitable for beginners and which for the more advanced quilter. The illustrations are clear, both as to how to cut, sew and assemble the quilts and what the completed quilts look like. There are a wide variety of quilts to choose from, with delightful photographs of each one. These are books for all levels of quilters.

As a beginning quilter I'm always looking for books which can teach me something. My eye was cought because on the cover it shows great free motion quilting. The patterns in the book are great. The only thing is, the free motion quilting is not done by the authors themselves! So nothing to learn there and that was part of why I bought this book. In that area I'm disappointed. Otherwise the patterns are easy to follow, every step is explained. So if you want to learn free motion or looking for free motion patterns don't buy this book but if you are looking for great patterns with an excellent explanation, go ahead. You won't be disappointed!

I have all the other jellyroll books written by these two people.Easy to follow with clear instructions. Love working with jellyroll sand layer cakes so quite a few.You can also use a lot of stash instead in a lot of the patterns.

I borrowed this book from someone in my Adult Ed Class and decided that I wanted to make a quilt from it - so I bought my own book. It is extremely interesting and beautifully illustrated. I am a total beginner so I have found this book useful, the instructions are clear although I have only just constructed some of the squares which I will need for the pattern. I would recommend this book for a beginner or for those more proficient and you don't necessarily have to buy a Jelly roll in order to complete the quilts, you can buy squares or use material you may already have which may hold memories, in order to make an heirloom. This for me, will be a long term project.
