Saves a ton of time and money!
Can’t believe I forgot to write a review for this amazing dohickie months ago. I love this thing, it is incredibly simple to use, the app isn’t always bugging me with updates or anything. I keep mine plugged into my Jeep diagnostic port and whenever I feel like doing a checkup on it it is ready with info from each of my trips since the last time I checked it. This thing I bought for $26 has saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars on my old 2011 Jeep Liberty giving me all the info I need to do my own research and see if it’s a job I can do myself or not (90% it’s a yes.) and besides saving the $110 diagnostic fee on my car, I can and do use it to troubleshoot for my friends and family, it’s the gift that keeps on giving and a must for automotive diy-ers!

I Love this Thing!
We have a 2021 Ram Promaster 1500 camper van and are going to Death Valley in a couple of weeks and I really wanted to watch coolant temp and not rely on the center needle gauge on the dash. I originally had a ScanGuage II OBD engine performance and trouble code reader on an older vehicle, but I didn't like the corded feature and looked for something that used Bluetooth and a dedicated app for my iPhone. The AD20 Pro by XTool fit those requirements, and boy am I glad I found it. The free, proprietary app was easy to find in the app store, and the setup and pairing in my driveway was super easy. The general settings are intuitive, was able to set units to US (deg F, miles, and gallons) and turn on warnings for coolant temp and DTC codes. The real shakedown will be when we leave on our trip, but just the fact I can actually see coolant temp is worth the price I paid the the AD20 Pro, and it was not that expensive at all!

Works but is somewhat limited
THIS ONLY WORKS WITH THE COMPANY'S APPFigured I'd emphasize that for future buyers. Look, this is a cheap odb reader. I bought it originally to investigate and clear a code, and it served its purpose. I didn't know much about cars at the time. Now that I know a little more and have more codes to deal with, I wish I had bought a reader that could pair with an app like bluedriver etc. because I don't like the advancer app. The advancer app makes running tests simple, but looking at live data is far less intuitive. For my car some diagnostics aren't even available, and for some reason the A/F sensor gives me current readings instead of voltage. The app also forces login, so sometimes if you switch tabs for too long it'll restart and you'll have to go through the whole login/vehicle self test process again (takes almost a minute), which is frustrating when you're jumping between the app and chrome to do research. It does work, but overall I wish I spent a little more for a more versatile reader.

Great OBDII Scanner!
This is a small but mighty OBDII bluetooth scanner. Simply download the app, plug in the bluetooth module, pair and you're ready to check multiple functions through your OBDII part on your car or truck. I've included several images of the interface so you have an idea of what is available. This scanner not only includes the ability to read codes, you can check on the vehicle's smog status (to see if your car is "ready" for a smog test). That's really important if there have been any repairs made to systems that need to cycle before a smog test. While you may not have a MIL after repairs or clearing codes, the systems need time to reset and be ready for a smog test. This unit could save you a trip and wait in line at the testing facility versus getting sent home.It also has the ability to run individual "live data" tests for more advanced trouble shooting. Novice users will like the simplicity of the main screens, while more advanced users might prefer the live data for items such as O2 sensors, speed sensors, EGR, fuel rate, etc. An unexpected surprise was the ability for this unit to provide "Mode $06" diagnostics. I haven't spent a lot of time with this but found it incredibly valuable for older OBDII cars that might not have the full support of modern vehicles like my son's 96 Cobra Mustang. If you know about Mode $06, you know it takes some research into what codes represent which PIDs, but it's great to have that information in such a small and cost effective unit. Finally, it has some neat features like tracking status driving data that shows RPM, coolant temp, mph, fuel consumed and fuel remaining, total mileage, battery voltage, intake temp, etc. It also has some dashboard features you can use for real time display and the lag time between the unit and actual vehicle activity was very low in my testing. Just for fun my friend and I used the acceleration test and felt it was quite accurate - at least he was pleased with the results. I think we'll have more fun with it in the future. One time saving tip I found, when you go to pair to a different vehicle it asks you to scan the QR code of the bluetooth unit. Well, that's not an option when it's plugged into the OBDII port so I just kept the box it came in and scanned the QR code on the side of the box - it's the same and super easy access.Keep in mind, this is not a full on diagnostic scanner in terms of being bi-directional or able to address systems such as TPMS nor should you expect that at this price. But it is a very good scanner to read codes and get real knowledge to help you when service is required and what you should expect to fix or have fixed by a trusted mechanic. To date, I have used this on my wife's 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, my Dodge Ram 2500 diesel, and 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe RXT. I will definitely keep this in my car whenever I travel and at this price, you could buy more than one if you have vehicles in different places or want to track the daily activity of your vehicle(s).
