CRKT Razel Fixed Blade Knife with Sheath: D2 Blade Steel with Plain Edge, Micarta Handle, 4037

Obviously Ive put this thing through it’s fair share trials and tribulations and she just gets more beautiful as time goes on :) <3 This beautiful made in the USA piece of functional art is so much more than just an everyday pocket knife!!! As a carpenter having a good blade is not just a luxury it’s an absolute necessity for me to have at all times. With the chisel point and thick blade this blade is useful in far more ways than any of my other pocket knife even the chopper style ones. I find myself cleaning up cuts with this far more than I pull out á razor knife and then a chisel because it takes the place of both in that and a lot of other instances. So for that reason alone, not including an entire list of reasons, I can’t in good conscience called this simply a pocket knife. No, this is an edc multitool. Once it’s in your hand you think wow this is kinda heavy but once you use it á bit the reason why it weighs so much is clearly evident. The opening is beautiful and smooth with enough to open with plenty enough behind it that you feel it but not so much that it feels like it would fly out of your hand and on the reverse, closing it is easily done one handed. Note Ive had mine for quite a while and have gotten at least 25 or so knifes sense I got this one and still day after after day this puppy is the one I grab at the same time as I grab keys and wallet. Speaking of which the few times I have not grabbed it before I walk out the door it very quickly feels like something is terribly wrong. I’ve been a semi serious knife collector for many years. I own Bali Songs, Benchmade, Syperderco, Randall and more. I often prefer an automatic with a Tanto or drop point. I discovered the Razel and thought for the money and blade I’d give it a try. What a great knife. It came razor sharp with a crisp assorted opening mechanism. The ball bearing pivot makes for smooth operation. I’m able to open and close this one-handed it’s a little on the heavy side but it is easy to carry, came extremely sharp and functions flawlessly. I have several assisted opening CRKT knives and each one has proven to be well designed, strong lock up, very sharp out of the box blade and easy to carry and use. The Razel is a good choice e for an all around working knife. I was curious and skeptical about the design of the blade but it has proven to be a versatile, easy to open knife. Very highly recommended.

The knife itself is great! The blade is thick and sturdy, it works well even as a pry bar, and the chisel tip comes in handy quite a bit. It's definitely a work horse! Being D2 steel though, I'd say it's best to oil the blade a bit every now and then to prevent corrosion. Mine has formed a couple spots over time from not doing this enough. As far as the sheath goes, I don't mind it in the pocket as it is very thin. Even with it being a little wide, still very comfortable as long as it's the only thing in that pocket. My biggest gripe is the pocket clip. It sticks out fairly far and gets snagged on things a lot. I actually accidentally broke it off once and requested a replacement from CRKT. They sent me a new one at no cost! Fantastic customer service aside, it would have been nice of that never happened in the first place. On the topic of downsides, the front tip doesn't come as sharp as the main edge. This is mildly bothersome being the hardest part of the knife to sharpen (at least if you are trying to use a fixed angle sharpening kit). I'll need to invest in a decent stone or two at some point to make sharpening this knife easier. Overall, the CRKT RAZEL Fixed Blade is a great everyday/everything knife for the money and at a price that I don't mind beating it up a little.

Really like this knife. It's is very well designed and feels solid in your hand despite the small size. I was worried I wouldn't like a knife that small but the slightly wider handle and solid construction makes it feel very secure and comfortable to use. It is slim and light and fits well into your pocket with the tight fitting clip. I was able to quickly sharpen and hone it to cut my arm hair. The chisel blade concept is new to me so I am excited to see how that can be put to use. This is also my first CRKT knife and will not hesitate to purchase more of their knifes based on the quality and price of this knife. It will be my new EDC.

Super strong compact workhorse! I’ve cut 4 plastic car bumpers in half and still sliced up 20 or so cardboard boxes with ease . The lanyard offers a strong and secure pinky grip. My hands are XL and they have never slipped off the handle. The Razel Compact will always be a favorite in my rotation. GIT YER OWN!!!

Neat little choppy boy! Bust up some small firewood for the twig stove, YES. Cut up some meat and veg, YES. Is it good at everything… hard no! But it is fun. Can you beat it up? Hell yeah! Who is it for? Shut up and buy one.

I purchased this knife specifically for beekeeping because I wanted a combo knife / pry tool. I have not tried prying with it yet but its edge is decent out of the box. The strange thing is that it’s only sharpened on one side. I’ve dulled the tip so it is not as sharp as the blade edge and will eventually sharpen the blades edge to a dual sided beveled edge. So far I think it will make a handy backup tool to have in my beekeeping kit. 1-2 more inches of handle would probably make it the perfect beekeepers companion so my search continues although CRKT does make some bigger knives that are similar to this that I may decide to try out in the future. For now I am very happy with this knife, its capabilities and its price. I will adjust my star rating as I see fit after it gets more use. Can’t go wrong with CRKT in general so overall I am pleased and hoping it will not disappoint in the field.

Bigger than expected but great blade for a multitude of uses. Can't go wrong with ant CRKT products.
