Murray & Lanman Florida Water Plastic Bottle 7.5 oz

I really dislike most "modern" colognes and aftershaves. Their fragrance is too strong, they never fade away and they usually smell disgusting after wearing for several hours. I stopped using these types of fragrances upon reaching adulthood and realizing how silly I smelled and how it impressed no one. In fact, I stopped using anything for years. But eventually, I became curious after reading a bit on aromatherapy and being exposed to various fragrances that didn't smell like recycled chemical sludge. So I experimented and found what fits my criteria for acceptability. What I discovered was that I like citrus, herbs and woody. I don't like heavy colognes that stay strong throughout the day--I want the fragrance to fade into the background. An aftershave is preferable since the scent is usually lighter than cologne and slowly fades to the point only someone intimately close will be able to detect it. Plus, aftershave just plain feels good on my face after scraping off a day's growth. Florida Water has become one of my favorite aftershaves. It's light, citrusy and slightly herbal. It's not feminine nor masculine, it's gender neutral. You won't smell like an old lady's rose bush or like an adolescent drenched in yak sweat when you're using Florida Water. It smells clean and fresh and well balanced. It reminds me of 4711, another classic gender neutral cologne I like, however, 4711 has a sharper, snappier overtone to the citrus and herbals. Of the two, I like Florida Water better. And 4711 is now pretty expensive compared to the relatively frugal Florida Water. Being as I'm ignorant of many things--some would say almost everything--I had never heard of Florida Water until I saw it for sale online. Interesting history there. Anyway, I've grown to love the stuff. Splash it on after shaving or after a shower and it's refreshing and doesn't knock you down with its presence.

For starters, I live and play in Florida and just for kicks, I bought this as a novelty item. Much to my surprise, I became quite fond of the scent and invigorating freshness of the cologne. It has a sweet orange citrus base with hints of lavender and clove. The name refers to the fabled Fountain of Youth which was said to be located in Florida as well as the "flowery" nature of the scent. After all, Florida means "Feast of Flowers." So, the name of the cologne is certainly fitting. Large quantities of Florida Water were used by barbershops as cologne and aftershave. In the 1880s and 1890s Murray & Lanman Florida Water was advertised as "The Richest of all Perfumes" and "The most Popular Perfume in the World" Like other colognes of the era, Florida Water was valued for its refreshing and tonic nature as well as its scent, and could be used as a skin toner or as what we would now call a "body splash". This is my number one use of Florida Water- as a body splash; particularly during the hot summer months in Florida. My second means of using this product is by mixing it with iced water and dipping a clean rag in and wiping the neck and body for a refreshing cooling effect. It's not just aftershave. It's also a refreshing body splash with that sweet citrus, yet manly smell.

I never even heard of Florida Water or its use until I recently became very interested in chakra crystal stones. So throughout my learning regarding this product, it is said that it’s great to use on rubbing down the candles before lighting it up on your alter, house cleansing by adding it to mop water, and also pouring some to an empty spray bottle to rid out any negative energy that is in your home. I did try it all and I love it! I especially love the smell! I’m like so addicted to Florida water now. Overall, it’s a great product with unique long lasting scent and great prices! I practice witchcraft and I use this to cleanse altars, deity figurines, and anything that is in a sacred space. I wipe down bookshelves before putting by witchy books in it. I could use it for everything! I want to clean EVERYTHING with this!! The smell is addicting! You can feel that not only physically cleans, but energetically as well! Great product! If you live in a haunted house, this product will work to keep that type of energy clear. I am sharing from first hand experience. I will never be without it. It works. Use it daily in a spray bottle and spritz everything, every corner, be sure to open your windows to release the energy. Say your prayers or chats. Your house will smell clean and the negative spirits will leave or quiet down. You must stay consistent though. This product has helped tremendously. It really works!

This stuff smells great! I'm no old man, either. It's fresh, clean, & unique. The smell reminds me of someone from my childhood, but I can't place exactly who... It just brings me nice, but vague memories. I have gotten quite a few compliments since I started wearing it. I now put it on each morning & plan on ordering the smaller bottle to keep with me in my backpack so I can freshen up on the go. I think this is officially the only cologne I will buy from now on... Why spend fifty plus bucks on something that makes you smell like a chick?! Be a man & invest (hah!) in some good ole Florida Water!
