Cate blanchett acted briliiantly but the story line was very obscure and disjointed, not helped by the poor sound quality and darkness of the images. Sadly, it was a disappointing experience with very little actual music.

What a disappointment. This film needs some serious editing. The opening of Mahler 5 was great in Atmos and Cate Blanchett is as good as ever. That aside the only interesting thing is trying to spot Mark Strong.

I bought the DVD of Tar in early August . There were no warnings on Amazon's site then that it was for a different regional zone. I didn't put it on until two days ago only to find It doesn't play. Now it's too late to get a refund. It was expensive too.

My god, that’s almost three hours of my life I’ll never get back. I really did not enjoy this. Cate Blanchett gives a committed performance as you would expect but to what end? Arrogance,selfishness,hubris mean you don’t empathise with the central character at all. The glory and the fall of a driven but fairly horrible person.

My wife and I recently saw this film on the big screen. Neither of us enjoyed it. Interestingly as the film finished quite a few people around us expressed how bad they felt about it.I'm just not sure who would enjoy this film. But thank goodness we are all different. I note that on IMBD the score is 7.5 out of 10. So, a lot of people must have enjoyed it. Beats me though.I guess if you're a big classical music fan it could have something for you. But that said there wasn't that much music in it.Cate Blanchett is good and in my opinion wasted here.Storyline is weird and very hard to follow.Overall we are left bemused and disappointed.

In my humble opinion, this was her best performance to date. Unfortunately, the Oscar for Best Actress went to Michelle Yeoh for her acting in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'. Hollywood can be so fickle some years. Regardless, 'Tar' is not a film that everyone will enjoy: the running time is almost 2 1/2 hours in length; the storyline may not be what folks want to watch; and the characters may not be likeable. That being said, the film is one of those rare movies where the quality of acting, screenplay writing, and production values are superior to most Hollywood films. This is a character driven film where the story weaves in and out of good versus bad conduct. I might say this is a modern-day Shakespearian plot, but that may not be accurate. What I do specifically remember walking out of the movie auditorium was that I just witnessed one of the best female performances ever. That type of acting does not come along very often, because there are very few legitimate leading actresses around. Cate Blanchett is one of those.

La famosa Lydia Tar ( Directora Filarmornica de Berlin ) esta a solo unos dias de enfrentar el mayor reto de su carrera profesional ; grabar la sinfonica que la llevara a la altura de su carrera. Por esta actuacion Cate Blanchett recibio su octava nominacion al Oscar , y un Globo de oro en el 2023.Por otra parte la pelicula obtuvo 6 Nominaciones al Premio de la Academia, incluyendo Mejor Pelicula , Direccion y Guion Original para Todd Field. La pelicula me llego en buen estado y dentro de la fecha de entrega.

Leider ist nicht Vermerkt, dass man die CD nicht im Fernsehen abspielen kann. Musste ihn auf dem Laptop anschauen. Trotzdem schöner Film mit tolle Darstellern. Man muss den Film mehrmals ansehen um ihn zu verstehen.

Ready to destroy lives to stay at the top of her highly demanding and skilled profession in the elite music world. A consuming performance from Cate Blanchett that should get her another Oscar. Immersive film at a 156 minutes. Excellent cinematography. Recommend highly.
