Although I'd recommend the Basix package for a trial period, the Uber Tubes size is more economical for use over a longer period. Having bought no sweeties ready for Hallowe'en, I offered my visiting youngsters Basix packages of Plasticine. Tellingly, they had not come across Plasticine before. When I explained it's attractions, they were glad take a packet each, to try it. I will be giving my grandchildren an Uber Tubes size, per family. In the rather large box you get what is shown in the photos: Two packages of modelling clay, in a wide range of colours; a plastic mat measuring 14 inches square; a plastic 'rolling pin' (I am guessing); and a packet of 'cookie-cutter' moulds, to initiate proceedings, prior to the youngster's imagination taking-over (that is the intended objective.) I bought this brand of modelling clay because of the reliable quality and because, unlike another brand of 'modelling clay', young children are not immediately inclined to try eating it.

When the package arrived I was thrilled because it was much bigger than the bucket I'd previously bought for a tenner. But on opening the box I realised they'd used the old trick of making a box far wider than the actual rolls of Plasticine. I really hate that old trick! But despite that the box has plenty of Plasticine and some tools to play with, so it's fun for my small.

The recipient had lots of fun. The free version of the recommended app did the job nicely. Fun and educational.

Usually buy this box for £7 in Home Bargains for my Autistic son but they were out so I paid a bit more for him as it's his favourite. Great product just alot cheaper in the shops

These plasticines are gorgeous colours and so successful for my grandson's modelling for making videos, I have bought two packs so far!

Nice to use after years of the soft drying plastic clay. 5 year old found it hard to soften at first but soon got stuck in. Lovely colours. Cutting shapes included quite good but difficult to remove clay from the smaller animals. Playmat too small and couldn't flatten. Roller tiny and just hollow tube but better than myriad of rollers already owned so caused fights. The kids like the fact that they can keep their "artwork" and not shove it back in tubs. It will all end up as a greyish purple blob, we all know that, but it will still be useable.

Great set, lots of lovely colours, well worth the price. My 6yr old loves it. She found it really easy to soften and use and has built lots of creations with it. Also she leaves little models all round the house and so far (1 month) it is showing no signs of drying out. It doesn't smell weird either like some plasticine does. We got it for her for Christmas and it is a big bright box so it looks great as a gift too.
