clean and clear!
The air and detail on these are fantastic, truly audiophile in my mind; they could hang with my HD650s and Grado RS1es in that regard. Vocals are fantastic too; very intimate yet still with a sense of space, even though the sound stage isn't huge. Bass-wise, it's there, it's taught and clean, but given the design you can't expect anything too deep. Still, there's enough midbass for good balance-- they don't sound thin in any way. They come with a ton of tips of various types (two kinds of foam, silicon, and wings) and you're sure to find one that's comfortable. They feel like nothing in my ears; no heat, no pressure, no stuffy feeling. Overall these are perfect for long duration use at work or what-not where you don't need or want any noise isolation.

Sturdy build, non-isolating, good sound
Setup: Source- iPhone 12 Pro (Spotify and iHeartRadio apps) Accessories- Cloop magnetic clip, Anker Lightning-3.5mm adaptor, Yurbuds Enhancer cover, and bass enhancing foam cover. EDIT: balanced foam is more my jam. First off, the Yurbuds cover is a must for me because the earbuds fall off my ears without it. It “locks” the earbuds in place when rotated in place. What this does is direct sound into the ear canal, reducing the “open” sound these types of earbuds are known for. It will sound more in your head rather than around you. I felt the bass was barely there until I used the bass foams (within the Yurbuds cover). With the bass foam, the bass level slightly increased to a level which I’m happy with; which is just enough to feel it without taking over everything. Vocals are about a step behind instruments yet clear enough. The highs are present, but faint. I enjoy some shimmer without sibilance and the FF5 is a level below what I like. Overall, the sound is good. For reference, my all-time favorite earphones are the Phonak Audeo PFE 232 with its clean, clear sound. I also enjoy the Etymotic ER3SE. EDIT: balanced foam regains some upper range shimmer while the low end still has presence. This will be my set up moving forward. Build quality looks like this will last. The cable is replaceable with MMCX connectors if it gets worn. I had a Blox TM7 that I enjoyed, until the cable failed a second time at the 3.5mm end after it was replaced. I mostly listen at home while doing chores and need the awareness to hear my wife or kids call for me. And I’m happy to say that this has ZERO isolation. I have my Bose QC earbuds or Etymotic ER3SE to isolate the sound out. Overall I am happy with the Fiio FF5.

Stage, timbre, resolution
In ear monitors and headphones get all the attention in the audiophile hobby, so I'm glad to see an uptick in interest in the flathead earbud form factor because these are a value proposition that doesn't exist in IEMs or headphones. Timbre is better than anything you'll find in IEMs and is competitive with some of the best headphones. Soundstage is comparable to nicer open back headphones. Resolution is competitive with in ear monitors that cost upwards to $500. Comfort is subjective, but these fit incredibly well for me, and paired with Fiio's own UTWS5, these are the perfect on-the-go listen - light and comfortable. Those looking for occlusion can isolation can look elsewhere, but on the flip side, these allow for situational awareness because you will hear outside noise! If you know what you're getting into with flathead earbuds, or you want to explore this form factor of transducer, look no further!

Wow~
Can't believe in 2025 there's still people making flathead earphone & it was GOOD, the sound reminds me my teenager years, carry a big axx CD Walkman & walk around. Full metal body, and I can switch between 3.5 & 4.4, the quality also pretty good.

Better sound quality than Airpods Gen 3, better bass than most non-in-ear.
Bass response well out of the box given plenty of foam and sizing silicone to get good seal. Very nice cable, and including 4.4mm swappable plug is nice. My right ear required large silicone ring. The crisp ear foam sounded the best. Response well to EQ. Staging and clarity are not as good as my AKG K319 (flag ship product back in the day), but good non in ear earbuds are hard to find nowadays. One negative like most made in China earbuds is the lack of textile/touch feedback to indicate the left side like many Japan/US earbuds.

Best "flat head" ear buds ever!
Way better than any earbud of this style. In fact, I think they compete with many quality full size cans. They actually present a sound stage and the bass reaches reasonably low to listen to full bodied pop and rock. Super impressed. If you're after this style, I don't think you will be able to find better. They are a bit big for this style, but I use them without any foam and it works fine for me.

Don't buy this trash
- No mids. - No treble - No soundstage. - Only bass. Expensive piece of garbage.

I am very impressed with the sound of these headphones, but I had to deduct 1 star because one of the stem vent covers just fell off for no good reason. I am very careful with my stuff, so this cover falling off was a complete surprise to me especially considering the big price tag.

Right ear bud has developed a crackling sound and is now unuseable.

Great ear buds, my current favourites sound fantastic with huge soundstage and great clarity, bass is on the lighter side but can be adjusted with EQ when required. Being open they are not for using on the bus, in a library or other quiet locations as what you are listening to can clearly be heard by others. Being open they are very comfortable. Overall I am really please with my purchase, they can make music sound special which has me listening more.
