how much weight will I need to apply in order to start stretching the spring?

They are 50mm Not 150mm. About 6mm diameter. I bought these to act as a return spring for retractable castors on my workbench. NO IDEA HOW MUCH IS FORCE NEEDED BUT NOT MUCH I SUSPECT. I will be using a foot to activate mechanisn.

What length does the 50mm springs comfortably extend to. Thank you

They are strong springs so 75mm is ideal. From my experience they will extend to 100mm but I do no know how long they would last.
