Fantastic ! Easily understood, life saver !
So glad I found this on Amazon ! I have been having neck problems for several years, Osteooathic treatment isn’t sorting the problem, (no details !) so I often get tight muscles. In those muscles there is always a trigger point, this book does help to find it, and explains everything so well ! OK treating the trigger point, with pressure for around 10 seconds or so, is - YIKES ! (Leave to yr imagination !) painful. But the relief is unbelievable !!!! Well written, good diagrams. Trigger points are in every tight muscle I find, release them, heaven ! Go about yr day …… No drugs !

This book has literally turned my life around.I have been struggling with shoulder pain, constant neck pain, and burning eyes for over a year.I had monthly massages, but inbetween I was still on painkillers, and constant doses of Ibuprofen. The burning in my eyes was the most unbearable sensation,I went to the opticians, and they couldn't find the source of the problem, but I couldn't find anything to relieve the discomfort. My shoulder was progessively getting worse, most mornings I was waking up with a tight neck, which would gradually through the day give me a headache. It was by a pure chance I came across this book, and the concept of self treatment intially appealed to me, as I was beginning to question how often I could realistically afford to keep having massages. I read the book from start to finish, which is no easy feat, but it was so revealing to read all the syptoms I was experiencing were deferred pain from a point in my back.I got a small dog ball from the Pound Shop, and started to self massge. At first it was so tender I was nervous to keep going , but remembered what the book said that years of muscle spasm will not be rectified over night. I have now been massaging my back for 3 weeks, usually between 3-4 times a day for short bursts as it states.I wake up with no neck tension, my shoulder is slowly easing off, and best of all,my eyes have stopped burning.I will continue the massaging as part of my daily routine, but I have also thought about my posture, and how I sit at the computor to prevent further damage. This really is a fantastic book based on clear anatomical information, and real practical solutions. If you suffer from any pain that is related to your back, this is book for you.I still cant believe after a year of contant pain and discomfort I am finally feeling comfortable, and strong but also in total control of my own body ( and drug free!)

Teach yourself a brilliant book
I chose this book because the sports therapist I went to used it and recommended it to me to help me self massage, which is essential if you wanted to stay pain free. I explains techniques in depth with easy to follow exercises and is a must for anybody with problem trigger points, I have suffered for 20 years and been to different consultants who always said my problem was different things which could mean surgery, but after reading this book and seeing a sports therapist I have got my pain under control and almost gone, a perfect buy for sufferers of sports injuries.

Valuable Self-Help
I have only given this four stars because I`m still in the early stages of using it. Having said that, I have made some use of the principles of this before but didn`t realise it could be so extensively used. I was interested because at 68 I am experiencing more morning stiffness in the lower back than before and even lots of stretching was not getting rid of it. After just over a week with this book combined with stretching and light exercise there is a marked improvement. This would appear to be the key I was needing. The authors appear to know their subject extremely well. That is saying a lot because the interaction of muscles is very complex. They save you the trouble of becoming a world expert in anatomy before you begin with good illustrations of areas of pain and the most likely trigger points. For anyone with stubborn pain this is well worth the money. One of my previous problems had been that whilst knowing some of the benefits of this therapy I could not work on areas of back etc which were out of reach. This book gives you ingenious solutions to this.

Easy to understand and clear directions.
This book is a life saver! I bought in the depths of my despair and pain. It has opened up a whole treasure trove of relief for horrible nagging and persistent pain and side effects. I must say it's a process of perseverance (Rome wasn't built in a day) but it works !! I suffer from neck head and facial pain. It was becoming unbearable and I was in a deep despair. I saw this book advertised on a trigger massage site so I looked at it and decided to take a chance. It's given me relief but most of all hope that one day I will no longer have these horrible pains or the debilitating tinnitus I have been suffering. I would recommend anyone to buy it if they have the same problems.

Chronic pain? Yourself or someone close to you? Study this book!
I have purchased so many copies of this book and given them as gifts to so many people with back problems or in fact any sort of chronic pain! By studying and implementing the methods taught in this book I have been able to cure any pain I have ever had since. We are going back at least ten years now. Somebody told me once it was too hard, and thinking about it, I do have an elementary knowledge of anatomy due to studying life classes in art college. As well as a basic knowledge of massage techniques, as I bought a book on that once. Oh, and I did a year of Latin in school. If you think you are at least as qualified as I am, then this book is for you and yours!

and both have proven useful in removing pain from a life of exercise
A comprehensive guide for trigger point release. I've owned the 2nd and now 3rd edition of this book in my life, and both have proven useful in removing pain from a life of exercise, office jobs and travel. The book is well laid out, with plenty of diagrams showing you how to cure your muscular ails. The 3rd edition is better laid out, and has better diagrams and is worth buying if you are starting from scratch rather than trying to get the older version cheaper. You'll probably need a few items to help with the massages in the book (or a willing partner!) but the easiest route is a couple of tennis/base/lacrosse balls and a sock!

Excellent book
If you have the patience to learn about where your pain emanates from in your muscles then this is a really good book I have one for headaches and for frozen shoulder as well and they are brilliant and I found them really helpful Only recently I had a problem with my upper thigh and some pain down my leg and I worked out where the problem was using the book, massaged the trigger point out and now... no pain! It does take patience, you don't rub a trigger point once and it goes away forever, necessarily. If you read the other information in the book, I think you will learn a lot of really valuable information about how your body works. It has saved me a fortune by not having to go to Osteopath to find out what is wrong.. But do take care, and see a medical professional first if you are not confident about self care... You don't become a physical therepist overnight just because you read the book :)
