Really for rank beginners
I already knew most of the principles involved, and was looking more for component recommendations, which were not supplied in enough detail. That said, the book provides an outline of considerations for designing solar electric systems. Could mention more about the various net metering schemes offered by power companies. Many do not pay back the full cost you pay for power. Also needs more specific details about connecting to grid, like who does it and standards.

Just awesome
This was ideal, it's just what I needed and unlike most books that I buy, it did exactly what it said it would. I have questions answered instead of more questions, which might sound obvious but it's not.I do have some issues with the grammar and formatting, it's not done that well which is a shame, but it's not enough for too make it down however it is noticeable.Otherwise, the book is well written and explains concepts well, even if you haven't had any previous experience you should not be intimidated. It's not that hard to understand. All in all a good book that could do with some grammatical editing but content-wise, very good.

Font sizing disabled on kindle
Unfortunately i am not able to read this book well on my kindle as the authors apparently have disabled option to change font size. So it’s tiny tiny in my old paperwhite kindle and margins are non existent. Can’t speak for content.

Delivers on all counts
Having recently paid for a solar installation, I was interested in what the author had to say. This book delivers a comprehensive and well-organized guide for anyone interested in deploying a solar energy system for their home. Its a broad range of topics includes the basics of electricity, maintenance, and operation. It was easy to follow and understand, and is a great place to start.I had a couple of quibbles with the accuracy of solar costs and payback. The return varies greatly depending on what state or area one lives in. My calculations place break even at 20+ years, not 5 to 10.Electric providers rarely credit you the same amount as they charge. There is always a difference between import and export pricing based on smart meter readings.I recommend.

Great book to initiate planning a solar system
The authors have done a nice job summarizing the key considerations for planning, understanding or buying a solar system or components. There is necessary technical jargon but we’ll explained and easy to follow examples, enough to point one in the right direction on what terms mean and how to apply them to sizing various components of the system. The book is true to its claim “A technical guide on how to design, install, maintain …… solar power systems for your home.” A good value with useful references to other resources one may want to consider.

Solid Primer for a solar power novice
My confidence is high that, after reading this and taking a couple pages of notes, I will be able to ask relevant questions to any solar panel installer.
