Review: Great Bible for kids. - The Bible for children in easy to understand language but without losing the meaning. This is great. Review: It does what it says - This Bible is billed as a complete translation of the entire Bible, but with children in mind - unlike so many children's Bibles which either leave bits out, or retell stories in their own words, or both! So if your child has read all the latter bibles and you want them to have a chance to read the actual "Holy Bible" then this is a very good product. It translates in short clear sentences in modern English and always indicates clearly who is speaking. It also has some full-page child-friendly illustrations in colour. It does not compromise the text, however. It is technically a "dynamic equivalent" translation - like the NIV or the Good News, and unlike The Message or the older Living Bible whhich are technically "paraphrases". So if you are looking for your child to encounter the Word of God in the same sense that you do in your quiet time, or in church, this is the Bible for you. It is an excellent stepping stone to either the NIV or the GN. My daughter (13) has made that step and reads the Good News mainly. My son (9), wanting a 'real Bible' to take away to camp, was delighted when we bought him his own copy of this publication. The only drawback is the shortening of sentences which can sometimes breakup the feel or flow of a text (e.g. in some famous Pauline or Johannine passages). When your child becomes aware of this, however, it is simply evidence that it is time to make the very smooth transition to one of the many translations you yourself use. Excellent product - it does what it says. Revd Philip Joy, Essex.

Excellent condition, unbeatable price
I bought used bibles for children at my church as I'm a Sunday school teacher. I was shocked to see they're practically brand new. Beautiful bargain for the price I paid

Good starter Bible
Where do you go once your child is moving on from 'Bible stories' to wanting a 'proper' Bible that they can use for daily study with Bible notes etc? We have started each of our kids off with this version - hardcover or paperback. Though the language is fine for a competent junior-school-level reader, our older two have happily moved onto the youth edition (same language, cooler cover, 'teen relevant' little inserts, but not too gimmicky). The style of this one is probably best for pre-teen - go for the youth one after that. This is not a book of Bible stories (though there are plenty of good ones around), and I'd agree that the paper is a little thin. The problem is that this is a complete Bible, not a Reader's Digest version, so thicker paper would make it pretty hard to read in bed (which in my experience is where our girls use it...)

A good first Bible for younger children
I run a Bible study group for children under 12 and I needed a Bible that I could use with the children. Up until now they have been bringing their own Bibles some good and some that are just a collection of bible stories not designed for study. This Bible is easy to read, clearly set out and easy to find your way around (from a childs point of view). The pictures are beautiful, I thinks it helps children to get a clearer idea if there are some good images to focus on, and these are just perfect. The Bible has a hard cover and will last a good few years. I would recommend this as a first Bible to anyone with younger children who wish to study, or encourage their child's faith.

Great!!!
This Bible has served me well. It was gifted to me as a child and I love gifting this Bible to others too. It’s so enjoyable to read as a child and for adults who have recently come to God.

I got this bible at the recommendation of my preacher for an accurate translation for my third grader to read. I normally use NASB or NKJ, but wanted a slightly easier read for my little ones. This bible is written at about a third grade reading level, and is a very good translation (I'm very picky on that). That said, I'll still move them up to a NASB around 4th or 5th grade, but this one is great for Pre-K through 3rd grade.
