Heavy but attaches very securely using two wrapping velcro straps. Offers good coverage with plenty of length and wraps partially around the sides for more protection. Designed primarily to block X-rays, but it also appears to cut the more energetic gamma radiation emitted by Lutetium-177 cancer treatment patients by 70% or more. Lutetium-177 is a rare earth radioactive isotope used in nuclear medicine in Lutathera treatments for cancer, and leaves the patient somewhat radioactive for a period of time with a half-life of 6.7 days. This item assists in safe transport home when the patient wears the item so that the driver is less exposed to radiation immediately after the treatment when the radiation is at its strongest. This item also completely blocks the beta particles emitted by Lutetium-177.
