WOW, JUST WOW
my boat has always been very difficult to steer, it's about 20 years old now and I've owned it for 5 of those years. replacing the steering cable helped a little. I also always grease all the swivel bushings on the lower unit. I had no idea how tight this helm was until I removed it to replace it. I couldn't turn it by hand and had to use channel locks to even get it to move. The new one turns effortlessly, I can steer with one finger. It was a direct replacement for the one that was in my bayliner capri, very easy to install. I highly recommend this replacement if you have tight steering

Part fit as it should
The part fit like it should, but does seem a little stiff to steer.

The quality is great and cost efficient.
however, i did not take off the old one completely so I took the wrong one. If you are buying make sure you figure out if you need the one for the flex tilt or straight. flex tilt has a different head with a hole in it for a pin.

Had to buy a new one to go with the new cable
After 3 reorders of my steering cable and yes I used the directions for ordering it and it was always to long, I finally got the right cable, My boat mechanic told me the old rack and pinion wouldnt work so I ordered this one and a new steering wheel. It works well with the teleflte cables. The motor steers easily and it fits perfectly like my old one. I had to order a 9 foot cable even though my old one measured 10 feet and the one I got was the exact same length but it wouldnt go back in. Maybe the previous owner put the wrong size in

A lot of modification needed
Item will work and seems to be pretty good quality, however when purchasing it doesn't tell you about other kits to go with it that you may need, and the 3 hours of modification that is needed to replace your existing helm.

Worked exactly as advertised.
I ordered this on Amazon because none of my local boat dealers had this in stock. Make sure that you order the mounting kit as well because you may need it to mount it in your boat. It was exactly as advertised and made my boat steer like a new one.

Great product Amazon rules
Super easy to install. Had new bolts and screws. Eleminates all the slack in the steering.
