NOT waterproof!
I love everything about this camera, which I use for surfing EXCEPT I've gone through 3 cameras where the charging access door opens in the water, ruining the camera. I consider it a weak design in the access door. This is not a problem with my DJI Action 4 camera. If you use the GoPro camera for watersports, get a waterproof case for it so you don't ruin your camera!

Unreliable; batteries will not last, cannot be replaced
Image quality is fantastic, as is the customization in the software. But it's absolutely useless. Bought it just after Christmas in Jan 2024 and I was able to use it for two short spring ski trips - nice warm weather, brand new battery. Got a lot of great footage. But that was two years ago, and since then, I literally only have about 10 minutes of usable footage. For our following year Christmas ski trip, it would not turn on. Or rather, I would charge it to 100% (after HOURS of charging) and it would turn on, start shooting, I'd start my run confident that i was getting it captured, and get home to find a bunch of 11 second clips. Thankfully, it was still (barely) under warranty, so after 3 days of painful back and forth, and a multi hour chat session with a tedious representative who insisted I try every single pointless exercise that I had already tried, they approved my return which I received six weeks later. Obviously, missed my big ski vacations last year, but did get another couple of short trips with some footage in Feb/March. Now again, a year later, I tested it out at home after fully charging it, and it seemed to work fine in a warm indoor environment. But the first day on the mountain, on a full charge, I can record about a 2 minute clip of one run. By the time I get back to the lift, it's long since shut itself off, so there are a half dozen clips of me turning it ON in the lift line, and it then shutting itself off after 11 seconds again. This would be annoying if it were simply a matter of buying a fresh battery each season, but when the battery CANNOT be replaced, as with these, and it just utterly debilitates the whole camera, it's just robbery. This is an atrocious piece of garbage. It can't handle cold, its batteries are so utterly frail that where others can be measured in hundreds or thousands of cycles, GoPro Batteries have a lifespan that can literally be measured in minutes. Do not buy it if you have any hope of it being useful beyond a month or two.

Simplistic Nature Great if You’re Short on Time
I’ve enjoyed this product better than the Hero 11 Black for many reasons. As someone who is relentlessly busy, I have greatly enjoyed the simplicity that this camera offers. Although I thought I would miss having the photo option, you can still capture a lot of photos from the video modes, which are all mostly the same as the ones on the GoPro Hero 11. Other features I like include the light weight nature of the camera and its miniature size. It feels pretty weightless on my helmet and hides easily in my bag. For some reason I have yet to figure out, the mini handles auto upload immediately and I rarely if ever have had to reset it due to battery issues. Because I have so little time, I have found this camera the one I prefer because its more simplistic nature means it’s easier to turn it on and start filming. While I do appreciate the Hero 11 Black, this little one has required a lot less fussing and is easier to take on the go. I like that I can just strap it on my head and forget about it. If GoPro came out with another Mini (and I would definitely be an interested consumer if that happens), I would want one additional feature, which I think would be nice for all the GoPros: A find similar to what is on IPhones. Although I don’t lose these cameras, I think it would be the one feature that would help for those times when life gets a little hectic.

Great camera but overheats after a few minutes
Great quality, easy to use, connects with app right away. Camera overheats after around 10 minutes of use in highest quality so I dinged a start on that.

LIVE STREAM RES MAXED AT 720P - per GOPro Software!
Since this is incredibly misleading and I had this thing in the box for months before I actually use it - I'm posting the review now. BEWARE - regardless of what the specs say LIVE STREAM IS MAXED AT 720p on this camera!!! GOPro you are seriously doing a huge injustice. My hero 8 will stream at 1080+ (not to mention I dont know why you wont let us stream in 4k if we got the down and up bandwidth to support it - but that's another story). I simple purchased this as a motorcycle camera replacement to reduce the size/weight. I'm extremely upset they have app locked this camera at 720p for uploading to anything (restream/youtube etc). I sincerely wish someone had written what I'm writing now because I would have skipped or went for a different model. Please pass this around - GoPro has conveniently stripped the fact that this is locked to 720 from all of the Google search results and any marketing material. For that tactic alone I give a huge thumbs down. - However, its only saving grace is the 720p doesn't look as terrible as it sounds but you can still tell its 720p. By the way even at 720p the battery is trash - less than 30 minutes. Terrible. Thankfully I use a powerbank and got used to that ages ago. I wanted to actually remove the battery and sd card like I do on all of the cameras so they don't overheat (I live in Texas). I was faced with another surprise - you can 't remove the battery on the mini so there's no chance of getting that extra heat reduction that you can on any other camera. Action Camera and 360 footage got a lot of attention and great updates around the time insta released the X3. Forcing GoPro to try and keep up. This last year the whole industry has shifted for selfie single field of view cameras. Terrible. Recap: Camera will do 5.3k+ in normal shooting and take photos. Camera is locked to MAX 720P res on live streaming using GOPro APP (I'm going to use another vendors software to get the proper res out of this thing). Battery lasts less than 30 minutes and its built into the camera - IE if you remove it you have a very high change in completely breaking the camera and at its least voiding any warranty. Ill be doing surgical work myself to remove you crap battery - thanks! I get they have to shrink stuff down and you gain and lose things - Im just more pissed off at the fact they have purposely scrubbed any information regarding the live streaming at 720p limitation. Additionally, they make no mention of the battery not being removable - which is just a dick move. They could easily make it removable but its the lazyness after shrinking items down and wanting to kick the camera out faster. - Like Geez GoPro at least let us fix your camera from overheating at 720p LOL!!! What a joke. Not only are you forced to the low ball res but it can't even stay up long enough without overheating in a 70-80F temp. If you're lucky enough and put fans blowing directly on it and heatsinks then you can achieve the 30 minutes battery life before it dies. Another joke. Its one thing to have shortcomings because you're trying to do something new and shrink things down, but the more you try and force people to not do certain things and act like big brother and start locking things because of the idiots who might try and run 4K+ footage stock without aftermarket cooling and then the hottest part of the camera you build in a way that it can't be remove (battery) - Ill never give them another dime anymore.
