Fantastic item at a great price

Great, but I had to varnish it myself.

Meets my requirements for size, hinged lid, hand-holes for carrying, and a plain (no decoration) finish. It would take a coat of varnish but I much prefer it as smooth (fine sanded) plain wood. I use it to hold all my shoe shine clutter. It isn't a heavy duty box, so I wouldn't want to jump on it, but it is more than strong enough for the job. One or two knots are visible on the outside, but (for me) that adds to its honest looks.

Sturdy, well made, well finished, nice colour, clean pine wood. Fair price and fast delivery with appropriate packaging. It can be used for a multitude of tasks, my use is extra room in my small camper van, it looks much better than the usual plastic box. It is very versatile too, it can be used as it is, or it can be clear varnished or colour painted. I am very happy with it and I recommend it.

just what i wanted

This is exactly as described. It is a decent-sized wooden box. It is unfinished wood and so really does need painting, varnishing or waxing (which I have done) and with wax it comes up nicely. How durable the hinges will be, I don't know and only time will tell but they seem OK and are not loose.

I purchased this box as my wife and I decided to give each other Christmas Eve boxes. It is a very sturdy wooden box and hopefully will be used for many years to come. It can be painted, vanished, stained, or left in it's original state. If you need a toy box, or a box for storage, this is ideal. It does not have a lock, but one could be fitted quite easily to the lid. It does have two hand holds on either side to make carrying easier. I'm very happy with it and have already sprayed it with a primer in preparation for painting. Hopefully the missus will appreciate my Christmas decorative attempt.

Unfortunately the box was damaged on a corner.

La boite est arrivée e mauvais état : charnières ne tenant pas. le transport n'est pas en cause, c'est la fixation des charnières qui est inefficace.

La boîte est arrivée abîmée.. les charnières sont cassées toutes les deux et ce n'est pas pendant le transport car l'emballage n'avait pas bougé.. c'est dommage car c'est une belle boîte par ailleurs

I purchased this item for use as a large shoe care products storage box. I had originally purchased a more expensive beech wood box from a different supplier, but had to return it, as the actual volume was only 70% of that advertised by the seller. The dimensions of this pine wood box are approximately as advertised. While the construction of the box uses dovetail construction, which is good, the finish of the box is rough. The wood on the inside of the handle slots was badly splintered on the inside. I, therefore, gave the box a thorough sanding. I also replaced the poor quality hinges with piano hinges for added robustness, fitted two clip locks and gave the box 2-3 coats of Danish Oil to seal the wood. The box is advertised with rollers, but what is provided instead are two strips of wood on the base, which act as runners and keep the base of the box off the ground. The top and bottom of the box is of very thin (3 ply birch?) plywood. For the cost of the box, it is OK value for money if you are prepared to do some mods to the box to make it serviceable.

They come in nicely finished but the wood is raw, which is great because you can paint it any color you like or just varnish.. thanks
