Q: What magnification is this mirror? Is it 10?

It is 10. That is quite high. You have to get very close (15cm) before the image reflected comes into focus.

Q: Does the base screw off to pack in a case?

Hi this mirror is excellent quality & the high magnification is very clear, accurate & undistorted however the base does not unscrew for travelling. I bought one of those small mini high magnification mirrors with suckers on the back for when I'm travelling. Easy to pack & does the job well.

Q: what is the magnification strength?

This is an excellent product.One side is normal, whilst the other side has very strong magnification. If you don't want to see all your skin imperfections then avoid looking at this side! :-)
