Penguins on Ice Maths Activity Set

Very happy with purchase. Good quality and very useful to help visually reinforce/teach daughter subtraction and addition. I use it in conjunction with "pop for addition and subtraction" but can be used with out. 10 penguins in 10 different colours. Think this will stay in our collection for a number of years as can be used for a variety of things (grouping by colours/addition/subtraction/multiplication etc.)

I was recommended this product by a tutor on my PGCE Primary course. It is really great for helping children with counting, number bonds to ten and subtraction. You can choose to keep the Penguins in their colour set or I prefer to mix colours to show number sentences visually- for example 6 pink + 4 blue equals what, then turn the ice bar around is 4+6 the same ? I am a KS1 teacher and have found this really useful. Also for subtraction it is easy to count the ice cubes that no longer have penguins on them.

Good for disguising maths as playtime with my four year old. OK she occasionally makes it all about the play but there are intermittent flashes of learning. Our first session was ambitiously about adding to ten but we soon branched out into even and odd numbers (which we conceptualised by checking all the Penguins had dancing partners). A 'cool' little set with lots of potential for fun with integers.

great product. good quality, penguins are kind of rubber like, more on the softer side.not hard plastic. they r cute and nice, good variety of colours , gender neutral. it would be gtrat if the instruction included some games to play with it, or a selection of tasks to do with different age group. it is also quiet pricey ,however if you know you will be using it a lot with your child or other kids, it is worth it. my son loves it, we are improvising with penguins , teaching maths in a fun way)

Great for Maths, colorful and eye catching whilst learning.

My Reception class love these counting penguins. There are lots of different ways of using them so they are used all year round. Excellent for 1-1 correspondance. Can be used for adding, takeaway or even colour recognition. There are 10 strips of icebergs so more able children start to recognise multiples of 10. Also can be used as part of a winter display.

The grandchildren loved sorting the penguins in many different ways, counting them in tens, great play value and educational.

This is so much fun for counting, addition and substraction!

Wie motiviert man kleine Kinder, sich mit Zahlen zu beschäftigen? Natürlich mit Pinguinen! :) Das Set enthält 10 Leisten und 100 Pinguine, die in 10 verschiedenen Farben vorkommen. Die Leisten sind so aufgebaut, dass sie jeweils 10 Pinguine fassen und auch miteinander verbunden werden können. Was macht man nun damit? Pinguine auf die Leisten (= Eisschollen) setzen und diese zählen. Damit kann man spielerisch von 0 bis 100 gehen und auch kleinere Rechenaufgaben durchführen. Durch die niedlichen Tierchen wird den Themen Mathematik und Zahlen ein Gesicht gegeben und auf spielerische Weise greifbar gemacht. Damit steigt die Motivation doch noch einmal deutlich, sich mit den Zahlen und dem Zählen zu beschäftigen. Wir haben das Spielset bei befreundeten Paaren mit Kindern im Vorschulalter dabei gehabt und es kam bei den Kleinen durchwegs gut an. Das Spiel wurde im Verlauf des Spiels irgendwann in eine Pinguinschule umgewandelt, vorher haben sich die Kinder aber verstärkt mit dem Zählen der kleinen Zweibeiner beschäftigt. Fazit: Für Kinder, die gerade erst mit Zahlen in Berührung kommen, ist dieses Set ein toller Weg, um die Welt der Mathematik zu betreten. Von mir gibt es eine Kaufempfehlung und die vollen 5 Sterne.

Purtroppo la mia sorellina, come la maggior parte dei bambini, da più di un anno, non frequenta l’asilo e, anche se da qualche mese ha ricominciato, le lezioni con la maestra sono sempre discontinue. E, siccome la scuola sta per finire e l’anno prossimo dovrà iniziare le elementari, ho pensato che potesse essere una buona idea munirmi di un metodo di istruzione che mi permettesse di immetterla all’immenso mondo della matematica. Così ho deciso di provare questo gioco istruttivo. A casa arriva una scatola di cartone ben decorata e dal peso importante. Al suo interno troviamo 100 pinguini in 10 colorazioni diverse (per le colorazioni potete guardare le foto in allegato), 10 barre in plastica azzurra, e un manuale d’uso multilingue (inglese, spagnolo, tedesco, e francese). Tutto accuratamente conservato in buste di plastica sigillate. Insomma, tutto l’occorrente per imparare le basi della matematica e oltre. Infatti, oltre ad essere utile per imparare a contare, a ordinare e classificare in base ai colori, ad effettuare operazioni anche a due cifre, ci permette anche di far apprendere capacità come il problem solving, la stima di un numero, o ancora sviluppare il pensiero critico. Tutto questo con estrema semplicità ed in modo giocoso e divertente. Inoltre, sul manuale d’uso è riportato un esempio di un gioco da poter fare in ognuna delle categorie che vi ho descritto, così da poter prendere spunto e creare i nostri giochi educativi. L’unico problema è che, come detto, l’italiano non è incluso nel manuale. Una dimenticanza non da poco che rende il prodotto di difficile utilizzo per coloro che non parlano una delle quattro lingue incluse. È prodotto in Cina, ma la qualità dei prodotti è davvero alta. I pinguini sono realizzati in gomma spessa e resistente, mentre le barre, sono in plastica, anch’esse di discreta qualità e con una dimensione di 30 x 2,5 cm. Il prodotto è inoltre certificato CE ed è adatto a bambini di età superiore ai 5+ anni. Va detto, che si tratta di un gioco che è consigliabile far fare ai bambini in presenza di un adulto che gli spieghi come svolgere i vari giochi educativi, almeno se l'obiettivo è quello di insegnare qualcosa al piccolo o alla piccola di casa. Questo perché da soli, se non hanno almeno già accennato questi argomenti a scuola difficilmente riusciranno a capire come sommare due numeri, ad esempio, 12 + 15 o come sviluppare il problem solving (una capacità molto richiesta al giorno d’oggi nel mondo del lavoro). ⭐️ OPINIONE FINALE ⭐️ Al momento della pubblicazione di questa recensione (Maggio 2021) questo prodotto viene venduto a poco meno di €34, prezzo che reputo corretto se rapportato alla qualità ricevuta. Dopo queste due settimane di test io e la mia sorellina siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti dalla nostra esperienza con questo prodotto e lei è riuscita a sviluppare e migliorare anche diversi concetti. Come valutazione finale ho deciso di assegnare cinque stelle. Consigliato! These are perfect for patterns, quantity, adding, subtracting, etc. The best part is my students love playing with them independently too.
