I hope to use my phone as a dashcam. When you put the phone in the stand with video on, does it give a good view in front of you?

It would depend on the angle of your dashboard. If it was level-ish then yes it would. However, you would not see the road surface immediately in front, only what was some distance away. Put your chin on a table and you will see the kind of views the camera will pick up on. I hope that helps?

Would this pack well? I'd like something to throw in a suitcase so I can use it in hire cars.

I found it very easy to move. I recently had to take my car to the garage to be repaired and had a courtesy car. I put the mat in my rucksack to transfer it to the courtesy car, and didn't have any problems.

Does it fit xperia Z2
