Top tips on the De'Longhi ECAM44.660.B Eletta Bean to Cup Coffee Machine
This review is for the De'Longhi ECAM44.660.B Eletta Bean to Cup Coffee Machine, 1450 W - Black Benefits of this machine - very easy to use and saves a lot of time with one touch for most popular drinks - ability to customise drinks to suit your taste - automatic frother works very well and has several settings for the different drinks - felt uneasy using pods environmentally and this machine grinds beans fresh - we use the milk from this machine to make hot chocolate for our toddler as we feel safe it will not be too hot for her - we do use this to make tea. Saves boiling the kettle and you can have hot milk too - love seeing the different layers of the drink through the coffee mug Points to note - check the dimensions - we have not yet had the joy of performing maintenance on this. But these machines will require regular filters, decalc and cleaning - grinders are never going to be silent Tips - Lavazza coffee beans can be had relatively cheaper from Costco if you are a member - Branded coffee cups can be very expensive. We have found the IKEA 365+ clear mugs a very suitable alternative. They do 2 sizes and we have found the smaller ones are a good size for the Cappucino and the larger ones for Lattes and the flat white coffees. - Using a small tub under the "taps" when running a clean on the milk caraffe and when powering off the machine, means the drip tray has to be pulled out much less frequently - Placing your coffee cup under the machine when it's turned on means it can get hot with the rinse. - We always run a clean on the caraffe if it's come fresh out of the fridge just to help pre-warm it - I have attached an image we have printed and laminated showing the different drinks that can be made. This is much easier to show to guests when they are deciding which drink they would like. - The image also includes the different froth settings for the different drinks so will save you having to pull out the manual We are relatively newbies to the world of coffee coming from a cultural background of tea drinkers. However we had recently been frequenting more and more Costa and then used the Aeropress with a separate frother at home. We have now moved onto this splendid device and now on average I will have at least 2 coffees a day from this machine (Cappucino in the morning and Flat White later in the day) and then the family have adhoc lattes throughout the day. As always, if you find this review helpful please make sure to let me know. Knowing you've found it helpful motivates me to do more such reviews.

No Regrets - Perfect All Rounder
I was working up to buying a coffee machine for many months before right at the last moment changing my mind on the model I was going to buy. I felt like I’d researched all the options and had settled on a Sage Barista but now that I’ve owned the DeLonghi Eletta for a month, I know it would have been a terrible mistake to go for the Sage. In essence the Eletta is perfect for the person that enjoys a coffee out and about (like Starbucks or Costa) but isn’t really arsed about the efforts and origin of the bean or how it made its way to your cup. Knowing coffee fanatics personally, I just really don’t care- I just want a nice coffee to wake me up in the mornings. The Eletta is 90% effortless. 10% not awarded because duh, you have to put water in frequently (not every time you use it, but at least once a day) and you have to offer it some basic maintenance like emptying the grounds, wiping the tray. However this is a small price to pay for the perfect coffees every time. I got the model with the milk tank, and if you have kids, this is also essential. I was reluctant due to the additional efforts in cleaning required however it has made the entire machine that more useful because it gives us a perfect hot chocolate, ovaltine and tbh I have even been using it for tea. I just always ensure I give the straw a rinse through immediately after making a batch of hot chocolates etc. Other additional benefits are the pre-programming features. You basically tell it what quantities of coffee you want. My husband and I always fill our flasks before work. The spout moves up and down depending on your cup size. Bonus. We have set it up to give us 100ml coffee on a “my coffee”, then tell it to do 2, so in essence we get a 200ml coffee flask made with enough room to add milk. It’s flippin perfect. You can change all the quantities on all the pre programmed drinks too so if you like a specific ratio of coffee to milk with your latte or cappuccino, it remembers. All this and you don’t even have to tamp the coffee down. It also accepts pre ground coffee btw but we have been happy buying beans. It takes no more time to fill our flasks than it was when we boiled the kettle to make instant coffee. To set it up: well, it got delivered at 9pm one evening and I followed the basic instructions and before 10 I was confident to make my morning drink, which I did. It took me less than a day to feel like I knew the machine. As for noise, I can’t say I find it annoying- it is a grinder after all. It makes noises that you’d expect. My husband gets up before 1am for work and I have not yet been disturbed by it. So it’s not that bad. Enjoy!!!

Bean to cup coffee brews for coffee lovers.
In Feb 2026 we bought a De'Longhi Magnifica from Amazon. Quickly returned as the internal mechanisms jammed up and spread ground coffee all over the place. Thank goodness we stayed with De'Longhi for their Eletta Cappuccino model. Good sized water container. Good sized coffee bean container. Good sized milk carafe. Good sized coffee grounds container. So, filled with water and beans, there's nothing more to do for a few days other than enjoy really fresh, tasty Expresso, Cappuccino, Filtered and Americano coffees. At a variety of strengths and a variety of measurements. Weekly cleaning is a few minutes. Then refill and brew again. Significantly quieter than the Magnifica for not much more cost. This is a serious bean to cup coffee machine with various easy options. One cup. Two cup. Mild, medium, strong, extra strong. Small cup, medium, large, extra large. Comes with a descale filter to combat hard water. Auto on and auto off for convenience. Hot water and milk for (e.g.) teas and hot chocolate. A sensible size delivering fast brews without any fuss or plumbing. Place anywhere near a three pin plug (kitchen mostly, but dining room for dinner guests). Solid construction. Well muffled. Good looking. Excellent support direct from De'Longhi (now Kenwood). Best of all the resulting coffee has super taste and a genuine crema. We tried various beans and even the cheap Amazon Arabica 1Kg bags tasted fine. But for special occasions Lavazza Qualità Rossa Coffee Beans are some of the best for this machine. Not to mention that wonderful fresh coffee smell for the first cup of the morning. An excellent machine. Can't fault it.

A fantastic bean to cup coffee machine
I've had this coffee machine for a couple of months ago, and all I can say is if you are looking for a bean to cup machine you need to consider this one! I was looking at buying a coffee machine for some time prior to purchasing this but didn't think I could afford a De'Longhi machine, however I managed to pick this one up in the Amazon Prime Day sale. The machine itself is quite large for a small kitchen, but looks great and the coffees it produces are fantastic whether it is espressos, black coffees or the several varieties of white coffees it is able to produce. The ability to alter the size, strength and temperature of your coffee means you can tailor it to your own personal preference very easily, and by adjusting the setting on the milk carafe you can differentiate between lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites etc perfectly. From my research in to other machines, I believe some of them can be relatively laborious to maintain and clean but this one is a doddle. Each time the machine is turned on or off it rinses itself, and the milk carafe has its own self clean function and can be stored in the fridge between uses which saves on cleaning. The screen alerts you every time you need to empty, fill up or replace something and because of the big water tank this doesn't occur that regularly that it becomes a chore. Overall I couldn't be happier with this coffee machine, and although I probably wouldn't have originally bought it if it hadn't been in the sale, I can now see how it justifies its price over the other machines that I was looking at, and believe that it is well worth it. In the long run I'm sure it will probably save me money from all of the Starbucks, Costa and Cafe Nero I'm no longer buying, and personally I think it produces far superiour coffee to any of those chains!

If you want to enjoy milk based coffees and choosing your own beans this is for you
Just to provide some insight to people like myself when I was doing my own research. First of all think about which coffee drinker type are you and what you value the most. A) you really need convinience and want a decent coffee fast - this would be mostly a nespresso drinker. And if you were worried about capsule waste or just the high cost per capsule now averaging 40 cents there is another option which is a reusable capsule. You need to check which ones would work for your machine. B) If you would like to drink coffee from fresh beans and your main drink type is coffee with milk (latte, capuccino, etc) then a bean to cup is definitely for you. This machine is a really good bean to cup. Its pretty easy to use (not as easy as a nespresso one) and gives you good coffee. To get a good coffee will be trial and error until you get the right grind for your beans. We are still trying to learn. With lavazza beans we are around 15 cents per capsule excluding the cost of the milk, so much lower than what we were spending in capsules. Also as some reviews here said, this machine uses a lot of water, when turning on and off but if this is to ensure the inside mechanism is clean I dont see any harm on it. You can save the water and water the plants. C) Coffee for you is a hobby and you like to enjoy the full experience from the perfect grind to the pressure, quantity etc then something like a sage oracle would be perfect. It does require more work and more maintenance. But probably thats part of the experience too. Myself: we drink around 3 coffees in the morning between me and husband. I drink decaff affer lunch. We both have a nespresso for the last 13 years and we were mainly drinking espresso. For us coffee means short ristretto size full of cream and body. In the morning I do like my capuccino. Whereas I love coffee since I can remember the reality is I dont have a lot of time to learn all the settings and clean the machine to keep it spot on. With this in mind Ill summarize below Pros: 1) really easy to use (but worth reading the instructions to setup). Once youve adjusted your settings it will be pretty easy to use on a daily basis. Would recommend a dirty coffee mug when turning on and off the machine. 2) For those that drink decaf you can use ground coffee for it so you dont have to swap the beans. I normally do a rinsing after I do a decaf to ensure its all clean and ready for the next espresso. 3) You can do milk based drinks at the touch of a finger. Im still using my aeroccino as I can make the capuccino foam for a single drink without leaving anything in the container and its easier to clean I find. 4) You get the chance to use fresh beans and find the coffee that suits your taste buds. 5) The grind settings for this type of machine are not bad at all. We are still trying to learn the best combo between coffee strenght and grind. 6) pretty straightforward to clean so far and would definitely recommend a water filter to avoid a lot of descaling. I have the delonghi filters but thinking of trying the charcoal stick which I use on my water bottle to see if the machine would cope with it just to avoid plastic waste. Cons: 1) The body / cream levels are more 'watery' than a nespresso. To reach this conclusion weve used the same beans on the nespresso (reusable capsule) by using the manual grinder and the eletta and even though they both look really creame the body of the nespresso was better. Theres something quite powerful of using the capsule and all that pressure inside. If only there was a machine that had a really good and compatible reusable capsule it would be fab. 2) coffee waste - here nothing wrong with the eletta as such as all of the non capsule machines suffer from the same sin. The amount of coffee needed for an espresso is almost 3 times higher than the nespresso even though its a lot cheaper than if you buy the capsules. I just wish this machines could be more efficient with coffee usage. Maybe one day. 3) Lack of cup warmer - it looks like its there but does nothing. The model above comes with the menu setting which allows to turn this feature on and off. Some people complain about coffee temperature so this would help. What I use instead is the water from turning on the machine and throw it away before taking my coffee. You can also warm your cup in the microwave. Ill be honest here, if there were really good reusable capsules out there I would have kept the nespresso longer as the espresso has more body. But overall for the coffee user I'm happy (my husband is not as he drinks more espresso than me). So hope this review is helpful to you. Edit: its been 5 years and so far absolutely no problems with this machine. It continues to make coffee like day 1. The machine has paid itself out considering how much we were spending in capsules even with a coffee subscription. Hope it will continue to work for a long period of time

Great quality coffee!
Excellent! I decided to get this to cut down on spending fortunes at large chain coffee shops. The quality is excellent, the taste (buy some decent beans) is better and the cost is negligible comparatively. Love it!

Great coffee - poor machine
We’ve had three different machines within 12 months. The first one broke after a month with a an error where it stopped grinding the beans, we tried all the instructions from Delonghi - they wanted £190 to repair the machine despite its age. Amazon replaced this one, then we had an issue where the sensor stopped telling us when it ran out of beans. The with the water not coming through the milk frother or spout and directly into the overflow tray. Amazon replaced this unit again for us, however we couldn’t get off the select language screen as the ok button did not work. It’s a great machine for the price - when it works, I’d avoid this one.

Better than expected
I bought this for £450 when it was on offer. Would not pay £800+ for any coffee machine unless I was very wealthy, but getting a £500 work bonus, decided to treat myself since I am stuck working from home. I had a manual espresso machine before, which was on its last legs, so decided to give bean to cup a try. The pre-programmed options make weak coffee, however I could programme coffee strength, temperature and amount. Then the milk option is also programmable, so I can still easily make different coffees, but just need to press 3 or 4 buttons instead of 1 to get a full flavoured coffee. Comparing this to manually grinding coffee, trying to press it the right amount an manually steaming milk, pressing a few buttons is no effort at all. You need to spend a bit of time when you first get the machine to configure it to your taste, but oncd this is sorted, then boom...instant coffee! The flavour and texture is much better than I ever could make with a manual machine. I use starbucks dark roast espresso beans and would argue the coffee made is on par with, if not better than at a coffee shop. The other great thing is it has a timer to automatically switch on and warm the tray at the top. I set it to come on 1 hour before I have breakfast and put my cup on the tray the night before so it is warm for when I want my coffee. Some reviews state the coffee is not that hot. It is not boiling hot, but if you put the temperature setting on high and warm cups on the tray, then it is a good temperature to drink. The self rinsing an reminders to descale etc ensure it stays in top condition. It even has a setting to brew coffee based on water hardness. Now I have this, I cant live without it. A must for any home!
