Good for ladder storage too.
At £10 what's not to like. Surprisingly good and just what I was looking for to save me from having to risk life and limb up my rickety steps getting my ladders down (and up) from my garage rafters anymore. Others have pointed out that the lifting hooks leave something to be desired and I modified mine with some 5mm bolts set into the ends (see photos) to make a better hook for the ladder rungs. This mod also serves to hold the rubber boots in place which otherwise slide off by themselves. If using for a ladder I believe this mod is essential to avoid a falling ladder while translating up or down from time to time. The supplied screws are indeed junk. Throw them in the bin. In reality 6 x 1.25" 8s are plenty, 2 for one bracket, 4 for the other if fixing directly into wood. The simple cord brake is surprisingly and reassuringly effective and quickly learned. Indeed a degree of trial and error to figure out what works best is necessary with the whole device and it needs using carefully. Definitely not idiot proof. The supplied very long cord is more than adequate for me to be able to lower my ladder all the way to the floor. My rafters are 2.7m above floor. Delighted.

Great idea
The lift system works great and has made more floor space in the garage. I have 2 of these and with the 2 bikes up in the garage roof there is much more floor space. The rope is quite thin and may wear out if used everyday and also can slip in the hand so it is important to be careful. The pulleys are not the best I have ever seen but that is part of the low price I guess. The breaking system will only work if the pulleys are mounted horizontally as shown in the picture. For one of the bikes I didn't have this option so have had to come up with a different solution to stop the bike dropping unsafely if it slipped. The surface that the lift is mounted to needs to be sturdy. Great product for the price and solves a problem cheaply.

Excellent product
Very well manufactured, sturdy, easy to install. Great value for money, so much that I bought 4 ,Two of which I'll use for another purpose such as elevated clothes rack....

Only okay......needs modification
You only get what you pay for!! Not the best designed bike lift out there that's for sure, the hooks are not fit for purpose and the cord used is very inferior too. However if you do a few modifications you can turn this into a super piece of kit. Firstly ditch the hooks, they simply don't attach securely to the bike (the last thing you need is your bike falling off), I replaced the hooks with two pieces of flat bar drilled out either end so bungees could be hooked through, the bungees hold the bike securely and don't rub or scratch the bike. Secondly replace the cord with 4mm para cord, you'll find it much better quality, and it will run much more smoothly. It's also a good idea to fix the lift ends to a length of 100 x 25 PSE before mounting to the ceiling, you'll find it much easier to secure the lift to the ceiling by using it as a fixing batten. One good thing is the cord locking mechanism once the bike is lifted, simple but very effective. If you have some odds and ends laid around your workshop to do the modifications then it may be worth your while buying this, if not, go buy a better quality lift, as it's simply not fit for purpose out of the box!!

Bike lift and store.
These are good easy to use work well hoist your bike up out of the way, there is a "lock" that stops the bike falling if the line goes slack - I tie it to a fixed point once the bike is on it... (this is past experience with these the one I ordered went missing "lost in the post" I was refunded) I still say a good item well worth having - the review is based on having these in the past.

Effective system
The brackets are well made and the hoist routing is easy to assemble however, I feel the ‘hooks’ that sit inder the saddle and handle bars could be better designed to capture the contact points. Whilst the bike is in the required position, the hook engagements leav3 me thinking it is a little precarious. Additionally, the handle bar, forks and front wheel rotate off the centre line when hoisted. This may not be an issue if you have adequate width but could be if you wanted to hoist more than one bike in parallel. The strength of the black cord, whilst generous in length, is a bit weaker than I expected. Fine for the bike’s weight but I’m unsure how long it will last after months of raising and lowering..

All round delighted
Cycle lift: All round delighted, great kit, I didn't expect the safety lock to work but it does. Clearer instructions on how to feed the cord through the main pulley block woud be helpful. Bought two more after the success of the first one. Excellent value for money.

Bought to hang a roof box not a bike
Bought this after seeing a different product (but more expensive) hanging a car roof box. I had some additional straps so went for this version just incase it didn't work out and had to use for a bike instead. Easy ti install in the rafters and just thread the rope through the right way, screw the securing loop on the wall in a convenient location. 4* sterdiness, its a hanging hook so sways a little 1* on stretch - i dont want it to stretch which is a good thing
