The complete first season of the popular American sitcom. Charlie (Charlie Sheen) is a well-to-do bachelor with a house at the beach, a Jaguar in the garage and an easy way with women. His casual Malibu lifestyle is interrupted when his tightly wound brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), who's facing a divorce, and Alan's son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), come to stay with him. Together, these two and a half men confront the challenges of growing up-finally. Complicating matters are the brothers' self-obsessed, controlling mother, Evelyn (Holland Taylor), and Alan's possibly gay estranged wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle). Not to forget Rose (Melanie Lynskey), a one night stand and current neighbor of Charlie's, who wants to be a part of his life and is willing to do anything to be around. Episodes comprise: 'Pilot', 'Big Flappy Bastards', 'Go East On Sunset Until You Reach The Gates Of Hell', 'If I Can't Write My Chocolate Song I'm Going To Take A Nap', 'The Last Thing You Want Is To Wind Up With A Hump', 'Did You Check With The Captain Of The Flying Monkeys?', 'If They Do Go Either Way, They're Usually Fake', 'Twenty-Five Little Pre-pubers Without A Snoot-ful', 'Phase One, Complete', 'Merry Thanksgiving', 'Alan Harper, Frontier Chiropractor', 'Camel Filters & Pheromones', 'Sara Like Puny Alan', 'I Can't Afford Hyenas', 'Round One To The Crazy Hot Chick (1)', 'That Was Saliva, Alan (2)', 'Ate The Hamburgers, Wearing The Hats', 'An Old Flame With A New Wick', 'I Remember The Coatroom, I Just Don't Remember You', 'Hey, I Can Pee Outside In The Dark', 'No Sniffing, No Wowing', 'My Doctor Has A Cow Puppet', 'Just Like Buffalo' and 'Can You Feel My Finger?' Review: Best sitcom ever - This is the best sitcom to ever come onto television & I'm chuffed to own it Review: a triumph of entertainment.... - "Two and a Half Men", is a real breath of fresh air in the world of sitcoms. It has what a lot of sitcoms have lost, a sense of fun and a balanced use of lead characters, meaning that the show is the real winner...this is no mean acheivement given that Charlie Sheen is by far and away the big name star, which should make the show a vehicle for his comedy, but instead Sheen acts as the perfect foil to the neurotic intensity that John Cryer brings to playing Charlie's brother Alan. The show also makes great strides in the area of family comedy, most series such as Frasier or Friends side step the issue of divorce or use it as a back drop to other activity. Two and a half men is brave enough to take the topic on and do so in a non-condescending way, which gives fresh life to the staple characters of family comedy, the child, the mother-in-law and the wife... The first series is an excellent introduction to the world of Two and a Half Men and still stands up to re-watching even after the successive series are watched. The only reason I gave it four stars was because I prefer the second series which is a lot more daring and unconventional, but if you love comedy you'll buy them both...

Explodes with humour like a careless match in a firework box on the 4th July
Brilliant and American are words that don't come to be paired often, this is especially true for American sit/com shows. However this is a wonderful series that always pleases. Snappy one liners, brilliant comedy at a gentle pace rather that the rat at tat of other shows. The build up to the one liner is a joy that the viewer can really appreciate. Well written and brilliantly acted by the central stars who are able to laugh at themselves, (wonderful for american actors) and the wonderful support cast of Rose (mad as a box of frogs), Loretta, Alan's ex neo lesbian, haridan, harie of a wife and others. A word on the series. Each show is about 20 minutes long... yes amazing when you realise that these are half hour shows. No ten minutes of advertising. You can easily watch three episodes back to back and spend a very enjoyable hour. But of course in 20 minutes you will not get the set up and complexities of a 40 min (1 hour show say ala House etc) So the shows are comedy lite and therefore so much more easily consumed and enjoyed? The chocolate biscuit and a nice cup of tea scenario ala Dad's Army. As to the content...A WORD of warning to PARENTS of younger than 14 children My son of 12 watches the show and of course he is not fazed by the occasional mild references to sex and all its glory, not to mention terms (oral sex etc). His mother is not so sure. So the word is watch a few shows, make your mind up that junior is mature enough to get but NOT be corrupted by the sexual content. (Which is what responsible parents should do more often?) Brilliant easy to watch comedy, Good characters and easy situations make this a winner. 5 well deserved stars.

US comedy at it's best
Great show if you like US comedies. No wonder it was top of the ratings for so long in America. Have watched the first eight seasons nearly three times over since the current pandemic started. Just lightens the mood and the script writing is the best you will find. No wonder that producer Chuck Lorre is the man responsible for most of the best US comedies over the past 15 years or so including The Big Bang Theory. The story line is a little different on this but the chemistry between the main characters is fantastic and the support actors are also well cast.(The casting director definitely deserves an award for the job they did).Angus T. Jones for his age is amazing as the "half" member of the title. Shame Charlie Sheen left the show after season 8 but enjoy the earlier seasons as he prooves he is a great comic actor along with Jon Cryer.

Two and a half men
I first saw this programme on Viva and was instatly impressed, but...yes there's a few flaws in the writing of this sitcom and when i finnished watching the first series there was no cliffhanger to draw me back to this sitcom, so as i'm quite strapped for cash at the moment (who's not eh!), i think buying the second series can wait! But it's a feel good sitcom with short stories...sketches if you will that are well written and i admire the witty lines aswell, all in all love it but if there were a few 'incidents' or more deeply written storylines, i personally think the re-occuring role of Rose is great, but can't see why they haven't developed her story line much, maybe it's just me and i may have to watch season 2 to prove my self wrong but eventually i will come back and get the second season just to see if anything has changed but as for first impression's on 00's sitcoms i'd more than recommend How i met your mother, especially if you like friends!
