There is a very good reason why Nippon Ant Powder has been on the market such a long time, and that is because t's effective. The ants get the powder on them and take it back to the nest where the other ants get their dose. Bye bye ants! Ants invaded my living room. I had run out of Nippon and hadn't been able to find it locally, but I wasn't bothered because although my neighbour two doors down is plagued with them they had never come into my home. Then, last Sunday, they did! My living room had been invaded, they were even walking over the sofa. I tried borax, lavender and mint (both fresh and crushed, not essential oils because I have cats), cinnamon, etc., things I had in the garden and the kitchen cupboard, along the door threshold. None of them proved an effective deterrent, so I ordered some Nippon from Amazon with next day delivery and in the meantime I dealt with the invaders individually via Dyson or foot as they appeared. I'm sure they learned what the sound of the Dyson meant for them! As soon as my delivery arrived I unpacked it and puffed the powder along the edge of the patio where it meets the threshold strip. No more ants came in that way but, when I went into the kitchen that evening, I found a few ants in there, so I repeated the dose outside that door. That was last Monday and I haven't seen another ant in or near either door since. I will order more so I don't risk running out again. I have to deduct one star for ease of use because it is difficult to direct it if you need to put it in a narrow gap. There is just a small hole in the top which is easily blocked because the powder is so fine. It's easily cleared, but puffing it out through that hole means you cannot direct it and it therefore goes onto surfaces where you may not want it. If it had even a small nozzle it would be easier to direct into tight spaces. Although it says it's safe to use around cats and dogs I don't really want the risk of my cats getting it on their paws and licking it off.

Used this product to help prevent ants entering my home. Proved pretty effective as they didn't want to go near the powder. However, if you're unsure of the entry point of the insects or there's multiple entry points this isn't a very effective product. It also only kills the insects if they come in contact with the powder, but the ants tends to completely avoid it, hence why it's only useful to stop them entering.

****update***** still no more ants since using this product!!! Ants!! I've never had any dealings with these irritating little tw*ts before and it's only this spring i seemed to be crossing paths with a rapidly increasing amount of them, wandering aimlessly around the hallway and by the front door. It started with one or two (squished with slippers on sight) but within a week or so they had tripled in numbers and started forming some sort of gang in my hallway. Whilst they never made it to the kitchen to the good stuff, They were getting closer and closer by the day and I decided it was time to stop using slippers and bleach to kill them...so i bought this stuff. I started by putting a fine line of powder all the way along the hallway in the edges of the laminate flooring where it meets the wall as this seemed to be some sort of method of travel for them...i did this two days before going away for a week and I spent the week away imagining I would come back to a house that has been completely invaded by ants...i even had nightmares about it 🤣 but I returned home and was pleasantly surprised to see not a single Ant anywhere. They used to wait until about 10pm when the kids went to sleep and all was quiet in the house and then come out but since putting the powder down I've not seen any at night! So I've been using it for about a week and a half now i just noticed a couple in the bathroom last night coming from somewhere behind the sink so I have sprinkled this magic dust around the bottom of the sink along the floor where the sink is and into any holes where pipes come out of the wall etc and so far so good. I no longer need to hear the sound of one of my children screaming ANT!!!! it became a little game. who can kill the most ants in a day. But so far weve not seen anymore. I've also sprinkled a line along the inside of the bathroom window and along the bottom of the front door to stop them from coming in as I suspect these are the two ways they were getting in... In summary, I didn't have what we would call a huge problem and they actually don't bother me they are just bloody annoying, so this product has almost completely solved my "minor" Ant issue. I'm not sure how it would work if they found their way to the kitchen I am not sure I would want to use this in the kitchen, on food prep surfaces etc... Not sure how this sits with pets or kids but my dog is still alive and my kids know not to step on the white powder (another cool game). So im guessing it's fine for all as long as it isnt being eaten or played with. will update In another week or 2

I noticed the fine 'sand' emerging from the cracks in a parking slab, about 1m away I lifted a large stone from a garden border and instantly had dozens of ants crawling all over me. Under the stone were numerous holes and a hive of ant activity. Seriously there must have been hundreds of them pouring out of the holes to greet me. I put the stone back and, after the usual decision battle of reviews v price, ordered this stuff Puffed and squirted the powder into every hole I could see, put the stone back again. Came back the following day and not an ant to be seen.

My ants have ignored this completely…. Not sure if this is because the product is no good or because they are now immune to it. Will have to try something else.

Great item

We've had some incredibly persistent ants getting into our home and this Ant powder has completely stopped them in their tracks. Every time we would close off one access point, they'd find another, but we were able to get the powder into all points without too much trouble. Note that this stuff doesn't just kill ants, we've found a number of other insects dead by the powder also so you may want to keep that in mind (we just needed to stop the ants, but have inadvertently killed a number of beetles that have wandered into the powder)
