Nice shop tool to have
Did I need a pair of park tool end crimper pliers? Heck yeah! Prob the only ones I’ll ever need too. Well built, feel sturdy and crimp end caps all dang day! As with all PT’s they’re pricey, but you won’t need another set.

Fantastic Park Quality - great for guitar strings too!
I use this tool both for its intended use as well as to cut guitar strings, which are very tough, and it handles that with aplomb. This duty leaves many cutters- especially those intended for softer metals- full of chunks and eventually destroys them. These cutters are true honey badgers.

Warning - you will want to re-crimp every cable on your bikes if you get this tool!
Niche tool? Yup. Necessary? Let me put it this way - I wonder how I made through life this long without this crimper! While kind of pricey for a single function tool, it does its' one job better than anything else out there! The only downside of this tool is that once you get it, you will re-crimp every cable on your bike(s). And then replace all the cables that you replaced last month as an excuse to crimp more cables. I can't help but wonder if Calvin and Truman and the crew at Park Tool are getting kickbacks from the manufacturers of cable ends ;-)

Great
Great for the one thing it is supposed to do. Crimping cable ends. The one place where they excel is crimping cables of dropper posts. But Totally not necessary and pliers work just fine.

When it’s gotta be perfect!
Exceptional bike builds deserve the finishing touch, and this tool delivers. Yes, you can use cutters, but that’s just not perfect, and I’m into perfect. My riders are, too…

These crimpers are the final evolution of cable end thimble crimpers. Getting a cable end crimp on derailleur and dropper cables has always been awkward, especially if one tries to keep it neat and short. I've tried several bespoke and some repurposed tools but nothing comes close to these. They crimp from the side as do others but also from the end making tight spaces easy. The crimp itself is small and deep making for a permanent installation.

The Park Tool EP-1 End Cap Crimping Pliers are a fantastic addition to any home mechanic or cyclist’s toolkit. I picked these up to tidy up cable ends on my bike after a brake and gear tune-up, and they’ve outperformed cheaper pliers I’ve used in the past. Build Quality: True to Park Tool’s reputation, these feel solid and well-engineered. The handles have comfortable grips, and the jaws align perfectly every time. There’s no flex, and the tool feels like it will last for years, even with frequent use. Performance: Crimping cable end caps with these pliers is quick and secure. They hold the cap firmly in place and apply even pressure, leaving a professional-looking finish that helps prevent fraying. I also used them on derailleur housing ends and they worked just as well. Ease of Use: Very intuitive — you don’t need any special technique to get a clean crimp. The tool feels balanced in your hand and doesn’t tire your grip, even if you’re doing multiple cables in one session. Value: They’re more expensive than basic crimpers, but the durability, precision, and quality justify the price. For anyone who regularly works on their own bikes or wants reliable results, they’re worth the investment. Overall, this is one of those small tools you don’t realise you need until you use it — and once you do, you’ll wonder how you managed without it.
