I don't understand the sizes. Does Short (3'6" - 4'10") and Tall (4'9" - 6'3") refer to the height of the person, or is that the length of the crutch?

It’s the size of the person. A 6’3” crutch would be a little long.

not sure but I looked at them and they appear to be the standard size.

what is the diameter of the crutch at the tip. i want to change the tip to ones i use for snow?

The diameter of the lower post where the tip attaches is 11/16'' (18 mm).
