Seiko Kazu Mantel Clock

OK - first off it keeps perfect time because it is battery operated. So there ya go. It's a clock that does the job.But it is also very pretty and the chime is quite pleasing.When we downsized a couple years ago, I really missed the sight and sound of our beautiful Grandfather clock. I passed that along to one of my sons, but the house felt empty. I don't have the space for a large Grandfather, so I thought, well for the price, this is worth checking out. The cabinet is very nice. The chime can be set louder to softer. The loud is VERY loud. You can hear it through the house. The soft is very soft and non-intrusive. I like it just a turn above the lowest setting and I do not mute it at night. It sits on the piano. The face of the clock is easy to read from across the room.We are very happy with this. Good value for the money.

This is the second Seiko chiming clock that I have purchased from Princeton Watches on Amazon and love both of them. This mantle clock is beautiful and the chimes are so pretty! Both clocks chime the same. I buy white faces with black hands as it is easier to read the time on the clock. The only problem I had was being able to turn the volume up and set the time. It is hard to see the buttons. I wish Seiko would make these for senior citizens who might have problems seeing such small areas. Once set, it is a great looking and sounding clock. The chimes and gongs are right with the time. The pendulum swings a little too fast. I would prefer a lazy type of swing, but it is not a big problem.

This clock fully meets my sound requirements and is also a very attractive addition to my mantle. First though it came ONLY in the manufacturer's box with no shipping packaging. Thankfully, every part was in place with no damage. Other SMALL problem is that the parts to change the time settings, hour settings and choice of chime are very SMALL and hard to move. I'm happy with this purchase.

Clock was sent back. Loose parts, didn't keep time. Pretty much a loser as far as clocks go.

Very nice looking wood case. Well made. Plastic clock works with one C battery for power. The Westminster chimes are beautiful on the quarter hour. Time keeping is accurate. Easy to read across a medium sized room. May be overpriced but the quality is very good. Buy it.

I almost never rate something so high. I figure for five stars something should be exceptional, not just as described or arriving without defect (perceived or real). I purchased this clock to give to my wife for our 40th anniversary. We have had a wind up pendulum wall clock for years and like the occasional tones it makes as the hours go by. This Seiko Mantel Chime clock is really nice and it has been a nice addition to our home. It is not a wind up. It is powered by batteries (which I was not sure about when I ordered it) and I guess the sound it recorded but I would dare someone to try and tell the difference from our wall clock. It sounds amazing. I am so glad we have this clock to commemorate our long time together.

We love chiming mantel clocks and have always had one for almost 40 years. Our first was an antique and given to us as a present. Loved it and sad when it finally stopped working properly. Bought a Seiko from a local jewelry store that carried Seiko clocks. Had that one for almost 20 years. Recently it started skipping chiming. The jewelry store we bought the first one from had closed and the local jewelry store does not carry clocks at all. Saw a few Seiko models on the Amazon web site. Wanted one that chimed on the hours and also played a "bonging"melody on the quarter hours. This model looked quite nice and had good reviews. So we purchased it. Arrived on time and the chimes and time mechanism worked from the start. But this model also had a pendulum. We were not looking for a pendulum, but liked all the other features so we ordered it. We had a real issue with getting the pendulum working at first. Could not get it to operate. It took over 30 minutes to get it operating. The directions did not help either. Very vague on operating instructions for the pendulum. Also thought the construction of the body was very cheap looking - poor quality. That being said, the "bongs" and the chime are lovely and restful. Would purchase again but the price was too high for the quality. Sure hope it lasts for a long time.

This is a nice mantel clock. You have the option of turning off the chimes and strikes at night or leave them on. I like to leaves it on as it is an excellent way to tell what time it is in the middle of the night. Most clocks just turn off at night with no option of leaving them on to chime. I like the Westminster chime but there is a second chime to choose from. Nice wood case. I would not call ithe color of the wood "dark" brown but a medium brown.
