This was very easy to set up, fits the space I needed it for and the extensions are easy to apply. Once it's installed, it's solid. We really needed something for my dog to keep her on the upper level and this fit the bill perfectly. Though if you have something other than a dog, like a small child, I'm not sure if this will hold up. The gate does not lock right, you can easily just lift the gate up a little to open it. A dog won't be able to figure this out, but a child might.
