For the DragonMaster fan
I found this looking to see if anyone had done a re-print of DragonMaster (1982) which we played as teenagers. I'd thought I'd throw in some comparisons for any other Dragonmaster fans. There are 20 different hand types instead of 5, and with a 4 player game you play all of them once during a game assuming everyone uses their papal bull card.Players rotate being the Ruler (Dragonmaster) instead of each player doing it for 5 hands in a row. A full game is when each player is Ruler three times.Three of the hand types (edicts) are available for each Ruler to select from or they can play their one time Papal Bull card so all three of the current edicts are active. That's roughly the same as the staff of power in Dragonmaster. The edicts are shuffled so the hand order is random.Anyone including the ruler can power play any edict card. There are no secret power plays. If you successfully power play a three edicts papal bull hand, you instantly win the whole game. The dragon card during a power play has been replaced by a ring which lets you change a card to a 10 (beats anything as the highest regular card is a 9) but does not change the suit. The three player version is the same play except you'll have 5 edicts left over at the end of the game. The artwork has a similar style to Dragonmaster but all the cards represent real people from the Italian renaissance. I thought that was an interesting theme detail.

Quick fun and indulgent
If you like the card game spades this easily carries over with twists of edicts and papal bulls. The game is quick to learn and fun to play. Doesn't take too long to play either.I was impressed with the quality of the indulgent ring and other pieces. It is also fun to look up the families and some of the history if you are a history buff. It is a delight.

I like the mechanics of the game
I like the mechanics of the game, but the components are cheap and the cards have to be turned a certain way, since the necessary information isn't in all corners.

Best thing since DragonMaster.
This is a great replacement for the old DragonMaster game. There are a few twists that make it really fun.I designed an insert for this game that holds everything nicely. Search Thingiverse for Indulgence to find it (thing: 4127432)
