Edition 8 EX Over-Ear Closed-Back Headphones

I decided to take the plunge and invest in some serious hi-fi equipment that hopefully will last me a few decades. That's the wonderful thing about high-end hi-fi gear; it does not wear out or become out-of-date like an iphone, laptop or tablet or whatever other electrical device I replace every few years. Feeding off my other major investment, a McIntosh MHA200 headphone amp, the Edition 8EX sparkles beyond description. Open sounding (despite being closed-ear cans), breathy and lush, without any harshness, where instruments and vocals become a whole new listening experience (how could my records now sound so good?). Lows are powerful even when driven by phones are pcs. Highs are not too hot or bright but crisp and tight. The mids are what make me smile the most, however. Vocals are simply astonishing with depth and clarity I've never heard before. Diana Krall, Julie London and Sarah Vaughan never sounded better, and I'd be happy to just play these ladies one after another for years on end. I haven't even mentioned the construction and design: All top shelf! Pads are comfortable, fitment for me is prefect - not too loose or tight. Packaging is everything you want in something hovering around $2K; but for me it's all about the sound. And for that, it's worth every penny.

low quality of the shell, holder. When I received the ed8 ex, I saw the bad design of the headphone's joints. sounds is good but the quality is same as other closed headphone of the price €800 looks good whatever lol
