yes, this grill mat made of fiberglass material, it is a flame retardant material. It lays perfectly flat and protects our deck from sparks and embers from the fire.

Can this fire pit mat used under a wood firepit or BBQ grill ?

Yes, my understanding is that is what it is for. We use wood charcoal in our grill and this works to keep potential sparks from our decking.
