I use this workbook for my 2nd grade small group instruction. Each passage has a specific skill it focuses on. The passage could be fiction or nonfiction. I can complete a passage and skill questions within my short amount of time. There are such a great mix of topics. One of my favorite parts is each skill has an ID that can be put into IXL.com. If a student continues to struggle after our time in up, they can use their Chromebook to head directly to the IXL skill that matches. This workbook is simple to use, kid-friendly, and fits right into my small-group routines. Great resource for 2nd grade teachers, parents/guardians, or homeschoolers looking for reading skills to practice.

The Spectrum Grade 2 Reading workbook from IXL has been a great addition to our small group learning. The stories are engaging without being overwhelming, which is perfect for second graders and struggling 3rd graders who are building confidence in reading. It includes a nice mix of fiction and nonfiction passages, and the questions really help kids practice finding the main idea and key details. What stands out most are the colorful graphics and clean layout it keeps my students interested and makes the pages feel inviting instead of like “extra work.” The activities are clear and age-appropriate, and the connection to IXL online practice is a nice bonus. Overall, this is a solid, well-designed workbook that makes reading practice enjoyable and effective.

This one is good for kids in 2nd grade. It has help my little boy.

This book seems like a great review for concepts taught in second grade. There is a good mix of literature and informational text. I like that there are comprehension questions on the facing page for the child to answer. I would just caution having a child read these earlier in their second grade year as these texts contain phonics patterns that are not usually taught until later in the year.

We homeschool and I love the spectrum sets. I did first grade last year and they seemed to cover most of the bases. I have purchased a few for second grade this year and look forward to using them. Books are sturdy. They held up for the whole year. They were easy to read and understand. My daughter actually enjoyed them. I highly recommend if you're looking for supplemental materials or super simple curriculum for basic homeschool

I love these spectrum workbooks, and this reading workbook was no exception. The content is relevant and appropriate for second grade, it's also interesting so it definitely keeps their attention. I use this for my reading group that is higher level and needs a little bit of extra when they're working in small groups. The quality is wonderful!
