Perfect Tone, Punch, and Control!
As a drummer, I’m seriously impressed with the Evans EC2S Clear Tom Head (8-inch) — it delivers that perfect blend of attack, depth, and focus that makes every hit sound pro-level. The dual-ply design gives it great durability and a controlled sustain, while the Sound Shaping Technology rings take out just the right amount of overtones without killing the tone. The result? A tight, punchy sound that cuts through the mix but still has warmth and body. It’s perfect for both studio recording and live gigs — consistent tuning, responsive feel, and great projection. The clear finish also looks sleek on the kit, especially under stage lights. I’ve used a lot of heads over the years, and Evans always nails that balance between tone and toughness. The EC2S line gives you that modern, focused tom sound right out of the box — minimal tuning hassle, maximum tone payoff. If you want your toms to sound big, controlled, and full of energy, this is the head to get. Evans EC2S — the drummer’s secret weapon for killer tone!

The Best Head for Rock and Pop... Period.
I've been playing Tama, Pearl, Ludwig, and DW sets for over 25 years taking lessons as a young kid, was center snare at a university, did jazz in university having the opportunity to share the stage with jazz legends such as Maynard Ferguson, and performing on big stages as an opener for bands such as Blood Sweat and Tears, Gin Blossoms, Poison, etc. Hands down, with the right shells, these heads have an attack and durability perfectly suited for rock and pop music. I play strong lifting the sound out of the head and it's hard to dimple these. I think it would take some crazy out of control thrasher guy to break/dimple these. I'd say I replace my heads on avg every two years. These heads sound absolutely fabulous in the recording studio using a neve/api style plugin or console. Put on head phones and listen to Paramore's "That's What You Get" and that's the sound I get from these heads. I get a strong attack with sustained note at first and then the decay rolls off into the sunset. 14" & 16" toms with these heads are just amazing. I use these EC2s on both the batter and resonant sides for rock and pop. For more mellow gigs I will alternate to a coated Evans head but coated show signs of use much faster showing dirt, grime, marks, head dust, etc. I will do the coated heavy dry Evans with the little air holes around the edge on the snare to tame overtones. These EC2 heads are easy to tune and in my opinion Evans exceeds Remo heads in style, innovation, quality, and durability. As a kid growing up it was all about Remo but they have lost in the past decade not spending enough in R&D in my opinion to stay #1. Nobody will second guess you using these heads and if they do they need to be educated. Enjoy and drum on!

Great Tom head
This small Tom head sounds great! It was easy to tune into the right pitch. It not that thick and it’s really beautiful with its clearness and white stripes. It’s pretty durable and that’s good to protect my drums because I am a heavy hitter. This product is very versatile.

Great reso heads if you have mics!!
These heads have finally given me the sound I want with no muffling needed! I have been muffling in the past because I got my drums tuned great with a 1 ply reso head, but there was so much sustain that was a little overbearing; especially since the drums also had mics on them. So I tried going to two ply with the coated EC2s and it is exactly what I needed! I still get the warm tone, but the sound is focused with a sustain that dissipates at a perfect speed. I will say this though, if your using drums with no mics in any decent sized venue, your going to need to go with 1 ply reso heads, however, if you do have mics for your drums 2 ply is the way to go. I have Evans G2 Clears on the batter, and the Evans EC2 Coated for my reso. This combo works best for Worship, Funk, Rock, Country, as well as Indie.

The best head for toms, period.
These heads tune up nicely and don’t require much additional dampening. They’re also very durable, as I find myself replacing them long before they ever break. They work great on every tom I’ve installed them in. Make your cheap drum set sound great or make your high end custom kit sound even better. These heads always seat well and stay in tune nicely. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Great sounds, questionable durability?
For the Sound, I’d give it 10 stars, punchy, resonate, warm, attack, but the reason I gave it 4 stars was due to all of the dents and pits it acquired after only 10 mins of playing fairly hard on them (like I always have). After 10 mins of playing the drum heads look like my G2 heads that I just took off after 1.5 years. Edited: I have to play for a half hour the second day I noticed the Tom’s Started going out of Pitch so I’d have to re tune them, And again after another 15 minutes, the toms would go out of pitch and I believe it’s due to the pits developing after I hit. I’ve been playing drums since the early 90s. I play everything from tool to Dave wreckle, Slipknot Korn etc etc. I love Evans products but I’ll never order these again.
