6/18/18 — First Cleaning — parts were difficult to separate, so difficult that I was worried about breaking something. With my wife holding the base, and I wearing rubber gloves for grasp, we were eventually able to unlock the cone section from the base. I am now using a light application of silicone grease where parts lock together. It's available in small tubes or tubs for about $3 on Amazon or at your local hardwares store and is non-soluble in water and nontoxic. I also quietened that very, very fain hum to nothing with an old towel beneath the base of the fountain. The cat has shown no objections to this waterer and will occasionally play with either the 'fall' or the 'pond', so this waterer definitely retains its 5-star rating.5/21/18 — Just got it set up, will do a thorough review in a couple of months. So far, though, the instructions were clear and well-illustrated, it looks sturdy, there's enough water available for a good while (depending on the # of pets using it) if the power goes out, it's easy to set up (comes halfway set up from the factory), it functions properly, the pump can be disassembled for cleaning, and it is LITERALLY quieter than whisper-quiet. The only sound is a very, very faint hum, not even the sound of splashing water.

I am very impressed with this drinking fountain. I have had several others in the past and this one is so quiet. I have had no problems with any vibrating noises coming from it and you can barely hear the sound of trickling water. I am very bothered by noises, and this is barely noticeable at all.I have 4 cats and they all love different parts of this fountain. One drinks from the blue reservoir on the top of the fountain, one likes to drink from the parts that trickle out (like a faucet) and the other 2 like to drink from the bowl itself. I have noticed since we put this out, they are drinking more water and they are not using their other regular water bowls any more. Even our small dog likes drinking from it.It is very easy to take apart to clean and super easy to refill. I have had this for a couple of weeks now and have been very happy overall.The only drawback to this fountain is that the filter needs to be replaced pretty frequently. I have not had to replace mine yet, and I'm hoping that they last longer than the manufacturer recommends, which is only 2-4 weeks.If you've had fountains that are too loud and bothered you, this one might be a better fit for you.UPDATE:I have had this fountain for over 2 months now and I still cannot say enough good things about it. It is still quiet as can be and I cannot believe how much more water my cats and dog are drinking! One of my kitties has urinary tract disease (not an infection) and she needs lots of fluids; this fountain is a god send.I wanted to update because I have tried using this without the filters and I have experienced no problems whatsoever. That being said, it's only been a couple of months. The sponge like "filter" that wraps around the pump in the reservoir that keeps large items from getting through, works very well, but it definitely needs to be replaced. It's starting to become a little discolored. I'm ordering those now.I refill this every day and I take it apart 2-3 times a week to wash with soap and water and it literally only takes about 5 minutes.Well worth the money!!

Product, so far, seems very durable, and functional, and the pets like to use it (cats and dog). It's not noiseless of course, because it's flowing water! But now there's a pleasant "water feature" sound coming from the kitchen. The pump is not noisy. Easy to clean and easy to access for the pets. They use the top, the bowl and the fountain. It's not the most attractive, big white plastic thing; but it's very practical and it holds a lot of water. I wash it out with soap and water, and it's pretty easy to do, and easy to put back together.

Loved this when it arrived. Easy to assemble, quiet & the cats were very interested, however when we went on vacation the pump died so although they still use it, it's no longer a fountain.

***UPDATE***I've found that reviews regarding product longevity are so helpful. Regarding this product, I've had the fountain for over 1-1/2 yrs now (summer 2018) & just want to say it is still running quietly & efficiently. Still easy to clean & maintain. Couldn't be happier!***Well finally! A water fountain that works, is easy to maintain, & that the cats love. This is the third water fountain I've had over several years, & I must say it's the quietest & frankly the best. I am happy to see that both my cats use it frequently as long as I change out the water every 3-5 days (that's just cats & their desire/need for clean water). Changing out the water is just a matter of unplugging it, dumping the water, & wiping the plastic bowl. Cleaning the pump every 10 days to two weeks is a breeze compared to the last unit we had (it was still working, but I tossed it in the garbage where it had belonged all along). Clean, fresh running water is critical to a cat's health. Thank goodness I finally found a fountain that let me provide this for my cats without having to run & turn on a faucet or the tub every time they were thirsty, or worry they were drinking enough from a stale bowl.
