one of the better card readers I have used
I received this smart card reader earlier than expected, and when I went to use it the first time, I had no issues using it and setting it up. Well there really isnt much to do as far as setting up. Its pretty much a plug and play setup. There are options for downloading add on software that you can use to test your reader to make sure its working properly, but for the most part you just need to plug it in to your computer and start reading smart cards or writing data to cards. This reader/writer works with pretty much all JCOP cards and has alot of supporting information on their site. I would prefer to use this reader over its other version thats a little more portable but I dont think the other version is as accurate or reads as fast as the OMNIkey. I have been using this reader on a regular bases and it has been working perfectly with now issues. it evens displays information from cards that I didnt know it even could read. So I suggest investing in the reader if you are getting into carding or if you just want to see what these readers are all about, you can learn alot from just messing around with it and seeing what kind of information you can pull from different cards and chips

Works perfectly, good quality, could use a weight in the base
Bought because I was wanting to experiment with smartcards. It worked perfectly with several different card types and was trivial to install. I've used it with the PIVKey available here on Amazon as well as NXP JCOP cards without issue. I also have an SCR3310 and prefer the Omnikey over it as its much more sturdy. HID's products tend to be good quality in my experience, though expensive at times. I do recommend using the official drivers from HID as opposed to the stock Windows driver as they're much newer. The base was a bit tricky to put on at first as its not immediately obvious how it fits, but once attached is fine. One suggestion for HID would be to put a weight in the base. The reader grips cards pretty well when inserted and you can pick the reader up by the card...more weight would make one-hand removal of cards easier.

Perfect if you require a CAC reader to use with a personal or contractor laptop
I use this CAC reader with my personal computer when I require access to a government website that requires a CAC along with an authentication cert.

Reliable CAC reader
Summary: Had an old SCR331, and decided it was time to upgrade since that one started working intermittently. Recommendation: Update your driver from the HID site (link below). YES, it will work with Windows 10 without _but_ the Windows driver is generic, and from 2006. HID has an updated driver from last year (2019). One odd behavior is that I have a Dell CAC keyboard too, and with my CAC in the HID Omnikey, sometimes it would not recognize the card; I would need to remove and reinsert the CAC. Maybe this driver update will help (has not done it in the past 24 hours). Pros: 1) Same parent company that owns ActivClient (or more like HID acquired Omni). 2) Good fit & finish. Vertical stand is a plus, and removable for alternate orientations. 3) Drivers for Linux and Mac also available (did not test). 4) A co-worker put double stick velcro on his CAC reader, and put it to the top/back of his monitor (which makes it easy to remember to pull your CAC when you leave the space). Cons: None.

This is the one
It’s reliable and has worked well for me with no issues since I purchased it. I’ve used others in the past and none have worked as consistently. I don’t think I’ll need another for a long time.

Had taken in immergency and brought it from Amazon and was really confused if its going to work or no, but to my surprise its working 100% super like charm. Auto detected in Windows 10/ 11 Laptops and Desktop PCs. and Also detecting Out of India (residence cards) as well as read all smart cards. I am totally satisfied and a happy customer :-)

I needed a dependable reader for my smart card tasks, and the OMNIKEY 3121 has been flawless. It was truly plug-and-play on my system with no driver headaches. The base is weighted nicely so it doesn't slide around when inserting cards, and the build quality feels professional and durable. It’s a standard for a reason—fast, secure, and consistent performance
