Can you put the single on/off switch on two batteries in series? Just need to shut off both and turn back on both at the same time.

You could but don’t know why. If you want 12 v and you have two 6v batteries in series to make 12v then the two 6v can be cabled together all the time and the switch is used to disconnect both batteries at once.

Can you remove the red knob itself?
