This massager is EVERYTHING I expect from Comfier. Thanks for raising the bar!
This is my honest review of COMFIER Neck Back Massager with Heat, Shiatsu Massage Chair Pad 2D/3D Kneading & Compression Massager. Wow that its a mouthful. I want to talk about the few things that really matter to me. Essentially, I want to talk about package presentation including shipping experience and unboxing. Next, I will talk about installation, followed by learning curve, usability, and finally the product performance review, followed by wrap-up/summarization. 1. Shopping and shipping experience You are ordering from Amazon, as you know, and there should be no problems here... if you have Prime, you should get your shipment promptly. I received my shipment 3 days after ordering, but there was a holiday weekend during my wait. 2. Unboxing - see attached photos, the box is clearly descriptive but comes in an outer cardboard box. Inside, in exactly one minute I was completely unpacked with the massager unit, AC adapter, product manual and warranty card/reminder. The remote control is attached to the unit but tucks away when not in use. All in all, the unboxing is simple and installation can be done by anybody. There are 2 elastic straps which attach to a chair you would like to use (I recommend an upright but comfortable chair.... the wooden chair that I used was a little too stiff, but hey, I was excited to start using the massager). 3. Installation and learning curve: Installation is quick. 1. Attach elastic straps to back of chair, 2. Attach AC cord to massager on one side, and outlet on the other. 3. Before you sit down, determine whether you want to remove the flap which lies in front of the middle of the machine where the shaitsu "fingers" lie. A piece of velcro holds the flap in place. The massager is more intense on the back when you do not use the flap. I like to remove the flap for this reason, and because I like seeing the lit-up shiatsu compression balls along the middle lower part of the unit (see photos - lit up in red and blue). Learning curve can be quick if you sit down and press "DEMO" on the remote. My suggestion is to do this the first time around so you can experience the different functions and areas massaged by the unit. Once you learn the remote, via a few days practice, you'll know exactly which buttons to hit to get to what you need quickly. 4. This massager has a lot of areas, functions, and hence possibilities. I have a photo of the remote control which can help me explain different features of the massager. The top row of buttons has "vibration" and "demo". Demo, as I mentioned, is a good place to start and should be about 15 minutes. Vibration refers to vibration of the seat, and has 3 intensity levels depending on how many times you push the button... low, medium, and high, then off. The 2nd row refers to the neck shiatsu massager balls... and can be raised or lowered. The rotation can be made to go clockwise or counter-clockwise, depending on your preference. Regarding the next row, I feel deep pressure with the 2D/3D button so I liked it turned on... "rolling" made the nodes travel up and down, stretching out my spinal muscle with simulated fingers. "Spot" with the 2 arrows offers fine-tuning of a spot massage without the rolling function... this is helpful when you have specific pinpoint soreness. For the row of "AIR" buttons, I like to use "Air back" along with "Air seat" to get compression in the lower back and seat areas... the intensity button feels very strong on the highest level, so I suggest starting on a lower intensity for this. Finally, the last row of buttons before the power button indicate if you want Shiatsu massage on full back, upper back, or lower back... I suggest going Full back (both lights lit I think). The heat button should be obvious, but I'm not fond of heat in my massages. 5. In summary, this is a full featured high-performance product, and I feel like this is premium and next best to getting an actual massage chair in the thousands of dollars. For this product, portability beats an actual massage chair every time... I can get this massager off my chair and packed in a minute flat. (I like to remove this massager when my nephews come by because this is a quality massager and therefore not a toy, and therefore children should not use, or at least use with supervision). This massager is everything I expect from Comfier. Thank you for reading.

Amazing Relief After Working Too Hard doing Yard Work or Any Physical Tasks
I LOVE this massager. I was thinking maybe the air bag compression wouldn't do much, but I'm VERY glad I got that. It really does add a LOT to the experience. I'm in my late 60's and work on my property outside cutting logs and doing a lot of things that are hard on my muscles and my back. I used to need to see my chiropractor once a week at LEAST because of the abuse my body felt. But this massager has changed all that. Now, I massage right before and right after working outside. I use the massager a few times each time and I avoid needing trips for spinal adjustments or acupuncture. This thing really makes a difference in my quality of life. The controls are easy to use and the massager is very versatile. Before I do heavy yard work, I use the massager for one "session" with the full back setting. The shiatsu rollers travel the full length (height?) of my back and get my muscles ready to be used. The seat vibration is nice, and I usually leave the heat off on these warm summer days. The neck massage rollers are independent of the back rollers, and they can be adjusted up or down so that they hit just the right spot. I play with reversing the direction of the rollers, and they really do feel different with each setting. There is no rhyme nor reason for which feels better when, so I just play with it and when I'm happy I leave it. The air bag compression is stronger than I thought it would be originally, and it makes a huge difference in the quality of the massage. The bags hold me in place and I think that makes the rollers more effective. The bags themselves also are doing some serious work on my body and muscles, but it's hard to describe. I can tell you, though, that when I use the massager without turning on the compression bags, it's a whole different experience. It's still good, but with the bags, it's fantastic. This is actually the second one of these massagers that I have gotten. I bought the first one OVER 3 years ago, and I used it at least once a day every single day. Most days, I used it twice, and on some days after working in the yard, I used it even more. Long story short -- I gave my old one to a friend who really needed it and got myself a new one. I can NOT be without one of these, and if you have back issues, you will love this thing as well. Now, if my back is ever slightly stiff or hurting, I use the chair massage mat for a couple of times while playing video games or watching TV and my pain vanishes. I seriously can't say enough about how this product has improved my quality of life and allows me to still do a lot of yard work and work outside year round.

Very good.
Surprisingly good for price. Very good back massage and teh air compression is helpful. I'ld buy it again. My only complaint would be the neck massage. Neither myself (6'1" or my wife 5'5" can make use of it. Does not make good contact. We have a separate hand held massager for the neck , so it is not a big deal for us. If the neck is our primary need, consider options.

Just like a full size massage chair.
It is absolutely unbelievable how amazing this Massager is. It is just like sitting in a $1,500-$2,500 full massage chair minus the leg and foot massage. The app is extremely beneficial. You can save you favorite massage setup. (I am not sure of how many favorites it allows you to save.) The app also has session timer control which is a simple slidebar allowing you to increase the session time to 30 minutes and when the timer runs low, with a swipe to the right you can add more time to your session. Also with the app you can control the heat setting either low, medium or high heat. The remote only turns on or off the high heat setting with no ability to control the low or medium heat setting. It has air bags that inflate which hugs and compresses your hips and sides of your back. The air bags for the back go up almost to my armpits. I am 5'10" also I am skinny/thin and the airbags inflate enough to squeeze and compress me tightly. The back nodes can roll straight up and down without any circling or you can turn on the 2D or 3D motions and the nodes move just like someone is massaging your back with the heal of their palms in circles. The neck massager is a beast. You can move the neck nodes up and down for people of different heights, also being able to move the neck nodes up and down allows you to move it up your neck for a neck massage or you can lower it and it will massage the base of your neck and inner shoulder area. The only downside or thing this massager is lacking, in my opinion is the heat is warm and does not get very hot. Personally I wish it would get hotter. If you need or are looking for heat therapy this might not be the one for you. Shawn.

Turns recliner into a massage chair
I've had good experience with Comfier heating pads and have always wanted to have a massage chair, but didn't want to spend $2k+ for one. Putting this massager on my recliner is exactly what I needed for 1/10th of the cost, and it has the added benefit of being easily removable and stored when not in use. I could see this not fitting as well on a regular kitchen chair, but it's perfect on a recliner. Some of the features I really like: * Independent neck and back massage settings * Back massager has multiple modes including 2D (both rollers spin together), 3D (rollers spin one at a time), and rolling mode (slides both rollers up/down together, not spinning), and being able to move it to a specific spot * Air compresion on back and bottom is a great bonus and helps improve circulation * There is a pouch on the side where the remote tucks away when not in use As a ~6ft tall person, the neck massager can be adjusted to comfortably massage my neck or down to my mid-shoulder which is great for shoulder knots. There is a couple inches deadzone between the back massager high point and neck massager low point, but it's easy to slide myself down on the recliner a bit to get my lower shoulder area with the back massager. This has already helped a ton with chronic neck and shoulder pain - highly recommend!

Best at Home Massager
This is the best at home chair massager I have used in 20+ years of using them. The first thing I noticed was how sturdy the massager is, because that is how it felt the first time I sat in the massager. I put it in my high back computer chair and the straps for the back securely held the massager in place when I sat down. I did not have to wiggle around and try to hold the back and seat in place, because there was no sliding around like I have had other massagers do. This is a solid well-built massager. I started with the Demo mode on the included controller just to get an idea of what the massager could do. It went through the different types of massage and the three different levels of intensity of each. I had originally thought that the compression was a gimmick, but it turns out to be very relaxing and felt good and is a nice added feature that a flimsy massager could not do. I really like the fact that you can control each function individually, instead of having more than one function tied together with another, such as having to have heat when all you want is vibration. I like the hand controller but the app control is even better. You can easily control each function as well as combination of functions. There are two predefined modes, Vitality and Soothing, but you can also make your own Favorite Modes. When you are in the manual settings and find a combination of massage type and intensity that you like, just add to Favorites and the next time you are a back to the settings you like. Now for my favorite part. I am 6 foot tall and this model CF-2309A-2-APP in the description says that the neck rollers reach up to 6 foot 3 inches and for me it was money well spent because the rollers do reach my neck when I sit up straight. Every other massager I have had in order to reach my neck I had to slouch down. I have other massagers from Comfier and consider all of them a true value. They are very good quality and perform as I expect.

Great for middle back, ok for upper & lower back, poor for neck massage
Pros and cons: Pros: Very good build quality at a great price. Works well on my middle back and fairly well on my lower back. Lots of adjustmens and customizations. Cons: Very difficult to get a decent neck massage because it is a real challenge to be able to lean back far enough to get the rollers on my neck. Placing another item behind the chair to push the neck massager forward does not help much. Depending on how I have everything adusted, sometimes the back massager does not come up far enough for my upper back/shoulders area. When I AM able to lean my head back farther to get at least a mild neck massage, it causes my lower back to move out from the device so cannot get a good neck massage and a lower back massage at the same time. I tried pillows, different chair types and more to get it just right but could not do so. The unit does not save any settings once you power it off. Keep in mind that your results will likely be different based on your height and the type of chair that you use (a chair with a tall straight back and a long seat so that the seat of the massager is supported below would likely be best since curved backs on chairs make it difficult to make good contact with the neck massager). I don't have such a chair to confirm that, however. I also own a neck massager (the type that you slip your arms through the sleeves and pull to get the amount of pressure that you want). I still need it to get a good neck and upper back massage. If you are primarily looking to get decent back massages then this item will likely serve you well.

Pretty darn good, I like the customization
I had limited expectations, but I think this met and even slightly exceeded them. I'm 6'1" and I'm able to make the neck feature work with the normal back part. That being said, I do reposition myself on the back part whether I want to include more of my lower back or upper back - it doesn't reach ALL of my back and did not expect it to. Depending upon where I position it for my back, I can then move the neck up or down. My expectation for the neck was to reach my lower neck and traps. I never expect or would want a machine to massage my cervical spine. The heat function isn't amazing, this is not a heating pad, but works better in some modes than others. When using the spot mode for the back massage, the heating elements stay right on that part of your back for a while and it heats up pretty good. When it is doing the typical shiatsu (rotating) motion along the full range of travel then you don't really notice the heat. The air massage truly is a great benefit over other options. It is more noticeable with the Back air feature because it is helps to push your sides and back into the back massager. It creates the supportive "pinching" feeling you would get from a person giving a massage that is pressing their thumbs into your back near the spine, but the fingers are pressing along your side. I find the bottom air massage helps to target the lower hips/glutes. The vibration in the seat is not a great feature. I would have bought this without the vibration. I rarely use it. Pro tip: I remove the flap that comes pre-installed over the the back section and use it over the neck section. I wasn't getting the impact I wanted on the back when it had the flap installed and I frequently feel the neck massage to be too strong, but using the flap over it is a more pleasant experience. It would be great if the flap was designed to be used for either or if there was a separate flap just for the neck section. I am aware that the neck area technically does have its own cover, but that is very thin mesh compared to the foam flap for the back. I've only recently started using the app. Setting aside the unknown data safety of random Chinese company apps, it is fairly functional. I like that I can set favorites. That directly addresses the issue when only using the remote that you need to press all of the buttons to set everything up again (neck, back mode, heat, air, etc.) vs just remembering its last setting and going for another round. At $200 it is not cheap, but air feature and spot mode mean that you can dial this in exactly how you need it, which changes day to day. As long as it lasts for 3-4 years of regular use, it is a great value.
