On 16th March 1996, the Ramones played a farewell concert to 45,000 fans in Buenos Aires in what had been initially planned as the final show of their storied 20-year career. The River Plate Stadium, home to one of South America's most famous football clubs, had filled to the brim, while none other than Iggy Pop played as the opening act before the Ramones took to the stage. The band returned to the States on the Lollapolooza bill, playing their last show in Los Angeles on 6th August 1996. Nonetheless, they had built such a fiercely dedicated fan base down south that they had become, as branded by a major Buenos Aires daily paper, The Argentine Punk Band, "La Banda Punk Argentina."

As with other recent live albums by the Ramones, this one is a bit of a puzzle. It seems exactly the same as the recently issued 'Do You Remember Rock N Roll Radio' which is also live in Buenos Aires but the year after according to the details. Personally I think its the same concert just issued under a different title. However even if that is the case the actual recording is not bad at all and captures the magic and energy of a classic Ramones show. So well worth a listen but be careful you don't buy it twice like I did. Same goes for all the recent flood of live albums by Talking Heads and Cramps.

Do not buy this album!
It is a total wast of money! Sounds are awful: in some tracks you can't even hear Joyes voice but instead T.J.'s voice is too powerfull. All the gig is big mess, it sounds like clip and glue from many gigs to put together. Plus there is an idiot local radio DJ, who is talking over the music. If you wanna buy a good version of Ramones last tour, buy a "We are outta here" cd. It is perfect. Sounds are perfect, athmousphere is awesome plus there is good visitours like LEMMY and meny more....

Nur für Fans, leider nicht wirklich gut
Das hier vorliegende Ramones Konzert aus Buenos Aires aus dem Jahre 1996 bietet zwar eine sehr interessante Tracklist, bei der auch mal Stücke aus den letzten Alben live gespielt werden (so zb "Have you ever seen the Rain" aus dem Acid Eaters Album)....LEIDER wird dieser klasse Querschnitt durch einen nicht optimalen Sound zunichte gemacht.Schlagzeug oft zu dumpf und laut, Gitarren manchmal verzerrt oder zu leise, so kommt der Sound daher und das, obwohl es sich bei diesem Konzert um einen Radio-Broadcast Mitschnitt handelt, naja wenigstens Joey's Gesang kommt meist gut rüber.Diese Veröffentlichung kann man leider nicht vorbehaltlos empfehlen. Bei dem Song "Rock'n Roll Highschool" quatscht sogar ein Moderator in den Song. Es gibt allerdings noch schlechtere "inoffizielle" Veröffentlichungen, von daher sollten Fans probehören.Aber zum Glück gibt es ja sehr gute offizielle Ramones-live Alben.Wer ein solches sucht, halte sich an : "It's alive", "Loco-Live", "We're outta here" oder an "Greatest Hits Live".Darf es etwas inoffizielles sein, empfehle ich "1978 live at the Palladium, NYC" sehr gute Qualität, den Dreierpack "Transmission impossible" mit gleich 3 Konzerten aus den Jahren 77/78/79, Qualität allerdings schwankend, dort sind auch 2 Interviews mit den Ramones enthalten und last but not least das "Musikladen Konzert", dieses gibt es als DVD/CD Kombi auch bei Amazon.Auch nett ist das MP3-Album "Blitzkrieg 1976" aus der Doxy Collection (Amazon-Downloads) welches ein sehr frühes Konzert der Ramones aus dem Jahre 1976 bietet. Bei dem ist selbst der Klang ausgewogener als bei diesem Konzert von 1996. Traurig.
