Masterpiece – even better on PS5
I finally got around to playing The Last of Us Remastered on PS5, and I was absolutely blown away. This game is a masterpiece — from the gripping story to the incredible atmosphere and emotional depth, it’s one of the most powerful gaming experiences I’ve ever had. The characters are so well developed, especially Joel and Ellie. You truly care about them and their journey. The voice acting and motion capture are top-notch, and the writing is on another level — it's rare to see storytelling this good in any medium, let alone a game. Even though it’s a remaster of a PS3 game, it still looks and plays great. On the PS5, load times are almost instant, and the performance is smooth and consistent. The environments are beautifully designed and the sound design adds so much to the immersion. I played with headphones and was constantly amazed by the little details — distant clickers, rustling, ambient sounds — it all adds to the tension. Gameplay-wise, the mix of stealth, exploration, and combat is perfectly balanced. Encounters are intense and often force you to think carefully about every move. Crafting and resource management add a nice survival feel without being overwhelming. If you’ve never played The Last of Us, this is the perfect version to start with. And if you have, it's absolutely worth revisiting on the PS5 — smoother performance, enhanced visuals, and a chance to experience the story all over again. Truly unforgettable. A must-play for any gamer.

Best game ever made even better.
One of the best games ever made has been made even better. A lot of people seem to be complaining about this re-release, which some points I can understand like the price being too high for a remake of a decade old game. I however had no problem paying that price as this is one of the best games ever made and anyone who has played the original on PS3 or remaster on PS4 would understand. There have been many improvements in this remake, the main one obviously being the graphics. This is probably the best looking game out there right now, better than The last of us part 2 (tlou2) and horizon forbidden west. The facial animations are much better allowing for a much more impressive and emotional experience than the original. The gameplay also flows a lot better than the original thanks to the new AI taken from TLOU2. While there haven't been any new gameplay additions, the gameplay is just generally better than the original because of the new animations and AI. The haptic feedback is also pretty good, you can feel each movement but the use of triggers is not the best I have seen. Sometimes the triggers will just not work or the resistance is too minor to even make a difference, hopefully this is something that can be updated in a patch. I have seen complaints from people that they did not add the prone or dodge mechanics from TLOU2 which I think are pretty silly complaints. Joel is a 50 year old man while ellie is about 20 in TLOU2. How do people expect someone of Joel's age to be going prone and dodging attacks like he's some sort of ninja? I initially left this review when I still had an older 4K monitor that did not support HDR and was only 60hz. I have since gotten an OLED and replayed this remake again, it looks even better, its absolutely phenomenal. The HDR implementation is probably the best I have ever seen, it truly makes the experience completely different and makes the game look even more realistic. This game also has VRR support and runs at a consistent 70-80fps in the performance mode (1440p upscaled to 4K), even 90fps in some cutscenes which is really impressive for a game with such good graphics and fidelity, making the whole experience even better. The quality mode runs at a native 4K at 30fps with slightly better textures than performance mode but its not enough of a difference to cut your frame rate in half, and if you have a TV with VRR, it will run at 40fps in the quality mode. While this remake wasn't necessarily necessary as the original still holds up somewhat well today. This remake is great, especially for people who have never played the original and want to get into the series and experience some of the best storytelling is gaming and dont want to have to deal with the outdated graphics and mechanics of the original. Overall, a great remake that I highly recommend for new or existing fans of The Last of us.

Great game, and great value under £40.
Just as good as the second one. Not as good graphics in my opinion, but story and gameplay still top. They are great games. Great value for money, as I got this for under £40. Great deal.

Exactly as expected, the same game, but at it's best.
Product-wise, it showed up on time and in perfect condition for a better price than most others selling it. Now to talk about the game. It's the same beloved game, rebuilt on their new engine tech (yes rebuilt, it doesn't take a genius to see this isn't just a simple port job). Just as advertised. It admittedly feels a shame that we didn't get the dodge mechanic from part 2 but it certainly doesn't ruin the experience. This project feels anything but lazy. It's stunning, one of the most stunning games I've ever played, perhaps THE most. It's a remarkable story that stuck with me since I first played the original 7-8 years ago, and the new gunplay and feeling of the gameplay is top-notch. Everything is so fluid and feels really grounded and gritty, it's so much fun. The level of care and attention put into every corner of this game is stunning. And I'd recommend playing with a decent pair of headphones. I underestimated how cool the 3D audio tech would be, it really shines here. If you played the PS4 version and were satisfied and aren't much of a replayer, it isn't gonna be worth the price tag for you. If you played it and do really like replaying your favorites, like me, I doubt you'd be disappointed. There's plenty of replay value and they've taken advantage of all the new stuff on offer for PS5. It's also worth it if you have some disabilities that prevented you playing on PS4, because the new accessibility stuff is amazing. Essentially, it's a game for everyone who thinks the price is worth the product. A little bit like...every game ever. It doubles up as an attention magnet because anything with Last Of Us on it summons controversy, so there's some more value added :)

Stunning remake
An absolutely incredible experience. The graphics and details are breathtaking, and the emotional story hits just as hard as the first time. The updated gameplay makes it feel fresh and modern while keeping the heart of the original. A must-play.

Gameplay-technisch ist "The Last of Us" eine exzellente Mischung aus Action, Stealth und Strategie.
