Decks

A Bit Optimistic
This book gives a pretty good run-down on what is needed to build a deck. That said, most of the decks in this book are rather upscale and more suited for the Taj Mahal. I needed help to REPACE an existing deck, and I found the info a bit lacking. My biggest worry: replacing the old support posts. As a result of reading this book, I gave up on the idea of doing it myself, and, someday when I have a spare $10,000, maybe I'll hire someone to do the job (NOT!). I guess I need a book on how to dispose of your deck.

This is a good reference book to use along side a manual of your specific building codes. It has good pictures that show how to do the things they are explaining. There is more to building a good and strong deck than what I originally thought and this book shows how to do that.
