Does the job fine, nice and easy to install

I bought this as part of a DIY solar install. I wanted to have a specific and safe way of isolating the PV string from the inverter, but didn't want anything with captive cables (as I wasn't exactly sure where I'd place it). This switch was quite easy to install (although I will admit that the instructions were quite confusing). I had a little difficulty in terms of my own install when I finally decided on a location, but that was due to the short cabling between a separate junction box (in which I had my main 15mm 6mm twin-core DC SWA cabling connecting to short lengths of un-armoured solar cable to then connect into this isolator; fiddly but manageable). Overall, it's been a good purchase: it looks well constructed, seems water-tight (even including grommets for the screws to avoid any ingress via the wall mounts) and the internal mechanism feels suitably chunky and oversized (as it should, being 1200V/32A). In practice, my small DIY array will only put out 250V so I feel fairly confident that this has plenty headroom to allow (unlikely) future expansion of the string. I can't comment on the variant with the captive solar input and output wiring, but see no reason to think it would be any different, and it may be the better choice for many. Giving five stars although I was tempted to deduct a star for the confusing instructions.

Connected up to the battery running to my inverter and the cables are getting hot and no power get into converter

I was pleasantly surprised at the look, quality, and the inclusion of extra MC4's. Only have tested through meter and all good. Only downside was price a little high.

Good quality plastic

Putting this up for connecting my panels was not easy. The screws to hold the front plate on are very deep in recessed holes meaning you need a long thin screwdriver to be able to open it up. Back plate screws are not as fiddly but equally not easy. You only have to fit it once at least. When I opened it I found one of the wires was partially crushed, nothing to hold the wiring out of the way of the face plate. It needs some sort of clip to hold those wires out of the way. It feels like it's solid at least and although one of the wires was noticeably crushed it does work.

One of Mca connectors was incorrectly fitted and had a female internal probe instead of male , luckily enough I checked on internet and was able to unpin and change the internal probe. Now works well, but worth checking pin orientation before use. This was reason for 2 stars, if correctly wired would have full given 5 star because of cost and the solid feel to case.
