Solid Piece, needs a patient assembler (or two)
Overall, for the price, the finished product is worth every penny and I would buy again/recommend to a friend. If I could do half star increments I would say 4.5 stars because of assembly but I can't and really, once I got it together I was pretty happy with the piece. Now to go into details...Materials: For the price I couldn't ask for better materials. It's all wood which is hard to find at this price point. (Except maybe the back panels which are a very convincing composite) The wood is "Asian Hardwood" which is code for rubberwood. Rubberwood is a softer wood that is between pine and cedar on the hardness scale. So as long as you're not expecting to get solid oak furniture for less than $400 you'll be pleased. Others have said that the windows in the upper doors are plexiglass- if they are, it's a very convincing plexiglass because I'm 99% sure mine is tempered glass. Also, the "cherry" top is a bit darker than the pictures which I don't mind, it's very pretty, but be warned if you are trying to match it to other pieces.Packaging: there is an insane amount of packaging and the styrofoam sheds like crazy. It comes in three boxes (four if you count the box for the top/hutch that just contains the glass doors which is inside the box for the hutch/top). Pretty sure volume wise that the boxes are 60-70% styrofoam. It might be excessive but I wouldn't advise that they change that because it does a pretty good job of keeping the pieces safe during shipping but be warned. Try to open it in a garage or patio or somewhere that the styrofoam fluff will be easier to clean up. Or have a vaccuum handy. And I hope you have access to a dumpster because this will take up your entire curbside trashcan if you don't. Pretty sure I clogged the trash chute in my building with just the styrofoam from one box. Oops.Assembly: If I could dock half a star for this portion I would but its not fair in retrospect. And once you have it together it's kinda of irrelevant -anyways. All I can say is have patience. It can be done by a single person but for sanity and time considerations, I would advise getting someone to assist you. I did it alone 80% of the time and it took me about 5 hours plus a few breaks. I mainly used help in stabilizing pieces while I attached them to each other. It's also quite heavy and you have to hoist the top onto the bottom so assistance in that phase is really valuable. Assembly is not the most intuitive and the instructions aren't that great. There is literally one step that just says attach approx 8 pieces to each other and you just kind of have to figure out in what order it works best. Also, some of the "preattached" piece aren't attached so well so it helps to go over those pieces to tighten the those screws. There were also few holes that were a little tight and I had to widen just a hair. I didn't even use the drill for this- I just hand twisted the bit a half turn- I think those holes were just under threaded or maybe some paint got in them. In the end though my piece came together nicely and I feel like it's pretty sturdy. Just let give yourself plenty of time and have a glass of wine when you're done. :)

Worth Buying...!
The hutch & buffet is worth the value. It looks good, and fits our space perfectly! The wood will chip easily over time, because it is not solid hardwood. It took me 6 hours by myself to put it together using my power-screwdriver, and I am handy with tools. But it's not too challenging, just have patience, lots of parts. Good value, buy it!

Great product, but make sure you have a free day for putting it together
Wow, this thing kicked my butt, lol. Totally worth it once it's finished, but I spent probably 5 and a half hours putting it all together from start to finish. I've ordered in bedroom furniture, computer desks, all kinds of shelving, (just to illustrate that this is not at all my first time putting together furniture) so I had anticipated being able to get it knocked out in about an hour or two, but once I started opening the first box which only contained materials for the bottom base part I realized after about the 4th or 5th layer in the first box alone that it might be a little more involved. Basically not one single piece is pre-assembled, and to give an example the back piece (which would normally just be one thin sheet that you tack on) is made up of between 9-12 pieces that all have to slide and lock in together at the same time depending on if it's the base or the hutch (both pieces are similar in putting together but the base has a little more). Whoever came up with that old joke about "some assembly required" must have been talking about this unit lol.Anyway, one excellent thing is that the hardware comes in a big bag, and inside that main bag all the groups of bolts and screws are individually bagged and labeled (i.e. "short screws for drawer backs", "long wood screws for drawers", etc) so that made it extremely helpful, I wish all manufacturers would ship their hardware this way, takes all the guessing and possible confusion out of the equation. Instructions are very well written too.Like I said, this thing was a project to assemble, but after it was done it's a very sharp looking piece of kitchen furniture. Seems very solid and sturdy, seemed to be made more of wood than press board (I could be wrong, though if I am they definitely did an excellent job of making it look and feel like real wood). The styrofoam it came packed in was a little weird, it was kind of stringy on the ends almost like it was spun from strands or something, but that's just an observation I could care less how it was packaged as long as it shows up without damage.Bottom line - would definitely recommend and purchase again if needed, but would probably wait for a weekend to put it together.

Pretty good unit but nothing fancy
It's an attractive unit, at least from a distance. Up close, you can see some parts, like the doors, weren't built very carefully, but overall I am happy with how much it stores and helps me hide away some of the clutter that was accumulating in my kitchen. When finished, it feels pretty solid. The drawers are deceptively small inside.Despite being packaged in 3 boxes and about a hundred pieces of styrofoam, my unit did arrive a little dinged up. Chipped paint on the base. Some black scuffs on some of the parts. One piece had the paint pull off because some of the packing tape inside the box had adhered to the unit directly. It would be nice if they had an instructional video for the assembly since the written directions are lacking, and diagrams are quite small. Definitely lay out all the parts first, and definitely pay attention to every tiny detail of the small diagrams because the written instructions do not tell you much. I had mostly assembled the unit only to discover that I had put a part on backwards, which wasn't clear from the directions. All in all though, once I got going, it took me about 2.5 hours to assemble.

Take your time & plan out with help from instructions.
Again, 2 heavy boxes were delivered to my door, via Fed-ex. Stainless steel counter top was delivered 1 week prior. If you have assembled these type of cabinets before, you will be OK with assembly. You will need a few tools: "Philips" (star) driver; "Strieght" (slotted) driver; etc.Note: I also needed a cordless drill, to "redrill" 1 hole, as it wasn't properly "bored" out, which caused the "Kam bolt" to Not go fully into hole.Maybe could have used a hammer, to force (might not be a good idea) Kam bolt into hole. But......Took me 2, half days to assemble all 3 boxes.

Buffet & Hutch from Cymax on Amazon
The Homestyle buffet and hutch from Cymax is good quality solid wood item. It fits very well in our kitchen and we are really happy with it. We had no problem putting it together. I will, however, be cautious when buying through Amazon in the future as the item was selling for much less on the furniture sellers site. I found this out just after ordering and received no answer from Amazon on the difference in cost. It would have cost us quite a bit to ship it back to Amazon. Lesson learned.

White is not white
The cabinet and hutch were easy to assemble by following the instructions. The issue we had was that the color would be more correctly described as pearl or off white - it could also be described as a light gray. After two weeks of emails we were offered a a discount. Rather than a confaluted return we took the discount which will pay for painting.

Great quality!
This cabinet looks amazing in my four-seasons sunroom. It makes a perfect coffee bar. Exceptionally good quality for the price.
