Bought to provide WiFi and internet access for my desktop PC after relocating it away from an ethernet socket.Adapter arrived inside of 24 hours.Took it out of the packaging, screwed the antenna on the end and popped it in a free USB 2.0 port.The adapter uses the Realtek RTL8811CU chipset, which Windows 11 instantly identified, and installed the correct drivers for automatically. As this machine had been previously authenticated on the network, it connected automatically to my router, and there was nothing else to do. I didn't need the supplied driver disc. From unboxing, to a working internet connection in comfortably less than 10 seconds.A quick check in Device Manager out of curiosity more than necessity showed it sitting there happily, drivers installed, with no errors. About as "plug and play" as a device gets.WiFi signal is strong despite the PC being located on a different floor and a good 15m as the crow flies away from the router, with several internal walls in the way.Speed isn't stellar (about half to a third of that achieved by our mobile devices), but it's good enough, and for six quid there is an element of realistic expectations being needed. Been using it for about an hour, and the connection seems stable.Great value for money.

I have my telescope controlled by a local USB attached dedicated mini PC. I need to in turn control that PC from my Win11 laptop over WiFi using RDP. I find it better to use a separate WiFi router and private astronomy Network. However I still need to at the same time connect to the internet from my laptop over the home WiFi so needed two WiFI connections. This extra usb adapter allows me to have a 2nd one. Driver installation was automatic on Win11. I had to go into Network and Sharing to initially 'enable' the adapter as Win11 enabled only the internal one by default. Then set it to the separate network security. You may need to temporarily disable the native adapter. Once it's seen re-enable and then you then see the two adapters under WiFi and on different network routers. No bridging or extra software needed. RDP keeps good constant communication with the mini PC and I can also now access the home network and internet. This is USB 2 not USB 3 as advertised but it really doesn't matter as the USB speed is still higher than the network and for this price is expected. The device is set for auto 2.4 / 5.8 the properties do not have a forced property selection for 2.4 or 5 Ghz - possibly a reflection of a backwards compatible driver but it is 5.8 Ghz capable and if needed it can be set by changing the properties for the wireless mode. to a/c. The included aerial for me is a must have as I need the range out to the garden. It comes with a mini CD with drivers for XP etc, also MAC and Ubuntu - that's a nice touch. Auto installs for Win 10/11. Very good value.

Plug and play, as soon as it was connected to my laptop it was recognised straight away and instantly operational. Under windows 11 it will likely show in the WiFi settings as WiFi 2 and on device manager realtek USB WiFi. Most modern laptops and WiFi routers now use 802.11.AC as standard, I have a similar dongle which is 802.11.n and it just won't connect or work as well as this one doesOutperformed the same WiFi chip built in to the laptop but I suspect the on board device is faulty hence why I bought this. Obviously it ties up a USB port but performed just as well when ran through a USB multi port dongle.

Works out of the box on Windows 11 without needing special drivers, fair connection quality - enough for web browsing or downloading, but latency (ping) spikes in gaming caused problems. A more expensive wifi adapter didn't have that problem.

Great range, great upload and download speed, great connectivity. My only advice is to keep it out of the way of stimming kids as they might kick or hit it accidentally and break it. Not a con, it works very well and I'm very satisfied.
