100% Necessary for anything that requires decals.
More and more often, it seems like there are fewer products that just work. Products that just do what they are supposed to do, just, passably well. Micro Set and Micro Sol do what they are supposed to do. In fact, Micro Set and Micro Sol work so exceptionally well, I would almost consider them a requirement for any hobby that requires decals.Water slide (wet transfer) decals are not particularly hard to use, as long as the surface they are going on is completely flat. The trouble arises when, you start applying decals to different shapes, or curved surfaces. Imagine trying to wrap a piece of printer paper around a basketball so that it is completely flat and even and you will grasp the problem. Micro Set/Sol solves this problem, completely. Using both products in tandem, you can get a decal to fit smoothly on surfaces that no decal should fit smoothly on. Look at this banner. This banner should be an absolute decal horror show. Yet, using Micro Set/Sol makes it seem easy. It softens the decal, pulling it into every fold and stretches/shrinks it to compensate for curves. If you are using decals for anything, and don't use Micro Set or Micro Sol... stop it. Just stop it.

Micro Set helps with the application of waterslide decals. Micro Sol softens the decal and helps it conform to odd surfaces. The combination makes for fantastic decals. They're a must-have for any decal work.

Great decal set!
Use the microset to help place and move the decal. A little microsol after the set has dried and your decals become part of your model. The brushes are decent quality for the price point as well and make great applicators/base brushes. The only thing you might want to purchase additionally is some clear satin/matte/gloss varnish to give the finished product the sheen you're looking for.
