The Last Kingdom: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

This isn't the flashiest production, and at first glance it feels a bit weak in some respects. But the story and historical and mythological aspects are really quite compelling, and draw you in. The story of the birth of England with lots of historically accurate references and of course some creating license. I have watched it all the way through 2 or 3 times and I'll keep coming back to it every few years because it's fun, action oriented, historically educational. Many of the appeals of Game of Thrones, but with historical basis, and no dragons, and more modest, but still adequate production values.

Loved the series so bought the DVD to always have it to watch whenever. Loved the historical accuracy of series with storyline, costumes, sets & cultural customs included. If you like Viking history this series is a must. “DESTINY IS ALL” per Uhtred Son of Uhtred.

I loved the movie so much that I bought it

I purchased this in blu ray and it works perfect. No glitching or playback issues. However, the way the disks are stored on the holders suck. The disks are stacked directly on one another. I'm not a fan of this method due to threat of rubbing on one another. Upon arrival disks were detached form the holder and floating around in case.

Absolutely loved this series on Netflix. I found this on sale during Prime Days for a great price. Definitely an awesome deal. I will enjoy watching no doubt. The packaging is another story, however. I found a few disks with fingerprint smudges all over them, seasons 4 & 5 were mixed together, and the case surfaces, including the disk holder had a greasy/oily coating on them giving it a dirty appearance. I almost returned the series until i found all the series disks and put them in the correct order. The case had a factory sealed plastic wrap upon arrival so there wasn't any reason to suspect tampering. All is good now, I cancelled the return and look forward to watching this awesome series.

Arrived on time as promised. All 5 seasons are contained in one box of multiple dvd's for each season (typically 3-4 per) See pics. Many of the discs are layered two per space, which can make it tedious to find/extract the one you are looking for. Several of the discs were dislodged during shipping, making them susceptible to scratches from being loose upon arrival. They don't seem to be held in very well due to the jacket design. I have had to skip forward/reload at least 3 of the episodes as they freeze at a particular spot, whether because of scratching because they were dislodged or quality of the disc I'm not sure. While convenient and compact for keeping the series in one place, I would have preferred a more conventional setup of one season per package to keep everything organized and safe, as this setup is a little aggravating at times. As for the story itself, if you've watched Vikings you'll notice some of the storyline repeats in places early on but I've been told that is because Vikings took from several historical figures to create its characters, and it doesn't take away from the overall performance or story. Overall, happy with my purchase for the story itself but a little disappointed in the packaging and defective/scratched discs, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Love this series. Started to watch it streaming but was worried it would be removed, so I wanted to own a copy. I enjoy the historical backdrop altho the central character is based on someone who lived a century later so it fictional in this time period.

OMG! I was visiting out of town and found this extremely addictive series on Netflix. I watch it every night I was there. Took me a few days to realize this wasn’t a mini series’s it was something else. This was a 5 season running show. As soon as I got home went on Amazon and ordered the whole 5 season series. Haven’t watched it yet because a want a binge weekend of it! I love medieval movies, this is before that. It’s the story of when England was born! Highly recommend to anyone.

The Last Kingdom has to be my favourite historical fiction series. The storyline, characters, and events are captivating and totally believable. It definitely deserves a 5 star rating!

I am incredibly disappointed by this complete set of DVDs of The Last Kingdom as when we came to play them on our DVD player they are incompatible for the player as they are for American and Canadian DVD players. Unfortunately these were a Christmas present for my husband and we only opened and tried them today.
