It works, need paitence!
I had been using a different brand of bait some time ago which is drier than this brand. I noted it is a lot harder to break down in smaller pieces which I noted is a lot easier for the rodents to go for than just putting the block out. They are attracted to it and all that has eaten a lethal dose has perished. This is a good buy when dealing with a rodent infestation in an apartment before the landlords can patch your wall up. Update 9/20/20 I've had this bait out now for a month and I'm not sure how effective of a bait it is. Previously I was using JT Eaton 704-PN Bait Block which mice and rats seem to like a lot and I know for fact that was effective as I found 3 dead mice after putting a few of them out. This bait seems to sit around longer the the Jt Eaton product so it's a hit or miss in terms of consumption. We'll see if this one mouse I keep seeing during the day actually dies somewhere as my rodent problem isn't bad enough to warrant putting more than a few blocks out in some places. What I have noticed is bait of any sort won't be touched if they are whole. They like smaller chunks of the bait far more than larger ones. Smaller baits are also easier to move and may be taken to the burrow/nest site for later consumption. Update 9/23/20 I read few reviews on some other sites about this 1st gen rodentcide, it does work if the rodents find it appealing. It is very slow acting so it can take well over a week of consumption to get any results. Most of the reviews giving it high ratings said it takes about 2-3w to produce death. It would mean lots of feeds and foraging in that time span. I had used a 2nd gen bait prior which produces death in a faster time span. I'm guessing that since this is far slower acting, it'll keep the rodents from being wise to the bait as the source of death. We'll see if it does indeed work in another week or two as I've seen plenty evidence of the consumption of these bait blocks. Update: 9/24/20 I switched my rating from 3 stars to four. The bait does indeed work. It is acceptable for the rats and they do enjoy it's taste. I have noticed a huge reduction in rat activity and the fresh bait I put out untouched. It took about 2-3w for this product to indeed work. I believe the rodents in my area may have some level of resistance to this poison but resistance doesn't mean immune thus this will take far longer than a few days to kill a rodent. This is also a bait with a poison that pets and other animals that may eat a poisoned rat can recover from if they get secondary poisoning. If you need a far faster kill go for a 2nd gen bait product. Overall this is a well received and excellent bait but it takes a while for the rodents to succumb to the effects of it. Update 02/28/2023 I looked at my purchase date only to note I had this pail for two years! Meanwhile, these poison blocks is still working. The grains in them is preserved well by the poison. Through some research I learned my area has Norway/Brown rats. Population in my building sadly has been thriving well so much so they have been once again in my high-rise apt on the 26th floor. This bait is still working to the day! They love this stuff. Every time a block or two is put out they immediately go for it. I tend to put these put in high traffic areas along with traps. It's been an effective endeavor. I still break the blocks apart before putting them out. I tend to get a lot of juvenile norways so they have yet to reach adult size. Whole blocks go untouched and fresh traps that still smell like human tend to be untouched. Older traps that's long lost our scent are the ones that catch rats easily in conjunction with the bait blocks. This pail is a huge investment more so when your landlord doesn't do much of anything to combat the rat population thriving in our crawl spaces. For the price I paid, this is an investment that paid for itself. The best thing about this bait is simply the fact rats love it so much they don't touch any of my pantry items. I don't have a lot of space so fruits and other items like my 20+ lbs bag of rice sits out. None of my foods items have been touched since the bait blocks is less work for them to get to as it has a very attractive smell and taste. I never once seen evidence of chew marks and feces on my pantry items which sits on the floor due to a lack of space. You'd think they would eat the rice and cereal items but nope, bait block instead. To the day, highly recommending this product as well as the JT Eaton one mentioned in my original review. Update March 16th, 2023 Although I still have this bait pail, I have realized that the product is expired. Once the pail is open we have 12-18 months to use it. It is still being consumed despite being old. That means that the poison will still work but they will need even more feeds for a leathal dose. Regardless of, this being out in conjunction with a fresher bait (I went back to the Jt Eaton product given that my local hardware store carries it) keeps the rats eating in the same place with familiar foods. Bonus: Since it is peanut butter flavored and scented the bait attracts other pest animal like roaches and silverfish. Bugs will die but in a far shorter time span.

Does the Job, Rats Begone!!!
Although a generation one rat poison, I bought this on short notice when my Mom's roof was being invaded by roof rats(Norway Rats). She lives in a neighborhood full of various fruit trees which attract them. After studying her roof, I found two potential entry points and started placing bait blocks in them to test it out. I also surrounded the home with bait stations. The bait blocks in the roof disappeared within days. After repeat applications, her attic became silent. A word to the wise, if rats are in the attic, you do not want to trap them in there by blocking entry points, kill them first then block them up. As for as odor is concerned, there is no odor of dead rats in the house, but I would definitely not want to open the attic to check! If you do get an odor, charcoal packs are effective at absorbing dead rat odors. All in all, the bait did its job, was easy to use, and appears to hold up to outdoor weather exposure. As far as handling them, I would recommend using latex gloves to be on the safe side. I would highly recommend this product.

Very effective
Really effective; rats ate it and died. It so attractive to rats that they chewed into the closed container in the garage to get it. Best of all they died outside, not inside. We found 3 corpses a few days later in the yard.

Wonderful, and Effective when used Properly.
I had a massive rat infestation in my home and had to resort to poison unfortunately. I decided after some review reading to use this particular 1st generation poison. Now, personally, I would rather incapacitate these rodents one by one with a bat and my bare hands than to use poison, because I hate it, I cannot bare the thought of injuring non-target animals. But after some online research, and understanding how to use the poison properly (I used a bait station inside the wall,) It helped me eliminate almost every Norway Rat in our walls. And the stragglers? They became so disoriented from eating the poison that they would blindly run into my un-baited snap traps I set in their trails. And the best part? Our pet cats, and our community cats were unharmed. This stuff is very effective, and works efficiently when used properly. Now my only complaint is that I had to put peanut butter on the sticks to get them to start feeding on it, but when they started eating they didn’t stop… so maybe a more palatable flavor next time… like peanut butter, chocolate chip, or maybe even Oreos… :D (I hate to say this but I’m kidding, don’t eat rat poison kids.)

It worked when nothing else did.
It works when everything else does not. We had seen a couple of rats running around for a couple of weeks. I tried glue traps, spring loaded traps, and nothing worked. Perhaps the bait was not the best. I used cheese and peanut butter, and the traps were never tripped. The rats were very fast. I used the poison bait a few days ago, and yesterday, I found one rat just standing on the floor. It ran off but I predicted it was dying and this morning I found it dead. I found another rat in the bathroom last night, dead. AFTER WEEKS OF SEEING RATS RUNNING BY, I AM SO GRATEFULL TO BRING THIS TO AN END.
