A gift
I purchased as a gift for my fiancé. It is now in the box with his important items so I did good.

this is a great book
an essential book to read for all scholars and activists. it is comprehensive, makes complicated knowledge very accessible and shows how modern muslims are ignorant of their own history

Fair Information
It is a good book on Sharia Law, though somewhat heavy reading and lots of it. I would have liked it in Hardcover, but I guss it was never printed in Hardcover.

well worth the time
This complex text takes a careful read to fully digest the nuances and debates about Islamic law, but the time taken is fully rewarded. Hallaq carefully parses the evolution of Shari'a across different schools and historical periods, showing it to be dynamic and capable of adopting to changing conditions.

The Kindle version of this book SUCKS!
The book is extremely important. The Kindle version of the book is EXPENSIVE, CUMBERSOME, lacking in necessary hyperlinks. There is no excuse for a $50 electronic book, where it is important to examine footnotes, to fail to have necessary hyperlinks and to be cumbersome to use. For a $50 book, this is a TOTAL DISGRACE. A Shame! I want my money back!

Thorough
An excellent overview if a little dry. In terms of academic rigour and thoroughness, it’s right up there. Covers the topic from a spectrum of eras and geographies
