The book arrived in a plastic wrapper and is definitely new. Shipping was timely.I had a similar handbook for the DSM-IV and used it extensively. I'm retired now, but already have used the 5-TR a number of times.I like the spiral since it lies flat.The contents are well laid out. It's easy to find info.I read various complaints in the reviews, but I find this to be handy for quick referencing.

Recommended by a fellow MSW grad school classmate, this reference comes in handy in studying the different conditions to diagnose and how to use this. Compact and easy to carry. Love that I am not spending a lot of money to get a big hardbound copy, as the information will change and be updated over time.

I have the DSM TR 5 but I find that a quick diagnosis is best accomplished if I use this desk reference. It guides my practice so I can go further in depth and help my client for whatever bio/psych/social help they may need. EXCELLANT!
