Being that the wood is "waxed" does it need to be painted as well? If not does it require periodic waxing?

Wax is a natural way to protect the wood hive with out using paint. You can wax the hive periodically, but is not required.

Can I add more supers to this down the road?

Hi, I got this about 2 weeks ago and have it assembled and it is very nice. But no bees in it yet. I would say yes I would be able to had supers to it down the road if I wanted, but I would assume I would need to buy from the same manufacturer so the size matches up. Also the nails it came with started to split the wood so my husband used smaller ones, just FYI. But I love it and can’t wait to get my bees in April! Hope this info helps!

I used a solid top wooded pallet with 4 large steel washer to raise hive in four corners to prevent wood on wood contact.
