They’re not very sturdy.

I recently used these Glad Full-Size Aluminum Steam Pans for a party, and they worked well for my buffalo chicken dip. While the pans held up fine with the extra layer, I wouldn’t recommend using just one for dishes with a lot of weight, as it might feel flimsy. These pans are oven-safe and distribute heat evenly, which was perfect for keeping the dip warm. I also appreciate how well they fit in my steam table setup. These pans are a great solution for hosting parties or large gatherings. If you’re preparing heavier dishes, doubling up is a quick and easy fix. They’re a time-saver and highly practical—just keep the weight in mind!

I needed a pan for steaming sourdough bread in the oven while baking. The idea is, when using a pizza stone for baking you put a pan underneath it and throw in about a cup of ice cubes to make steam at the beginning so the bread does a fast rise before hardening into crust. I was using an old pizza pan and some of the cubes bounced out and fell on the bottom of the oven. They left a hard water stain that I need to try to clean off. So I wanted a bigger target to toss the cubes into. One of these pans will work great. They would also be useful for roasting a chicken or a turkey breast. They are sturdy enough but for safety but I would use a cookie sheet underneath if there was anything heavy in the pan. They are smaller than the turkey sized roasting pans but that makes them easier to store as well.
