Finger saver!
I was shown how to use this in a quilting class. It is made to help you close quilting safety pins (which, unlike regular ones, are curved.). You may use a large number of pins when prepping a quilt and closing them can make your fingers sore. This does take a bit of practice, but it’s worth the effort. Once I learned how to use it, my fingers were much less tired & sore. In fact, I liked it enough to buy a second one (one for the house, one to take to classes.)

Great for beginners and experts! Great gift too!
I bought one of these because a quilting for beginners book recommended it, and I LOVE IT!! I just zip through pinning my project, and un-pinning as well. I bought one as a gift for my friend who has been quilting for 35+ years (don't tell her I said how many years I told you or I would be "showing her age"), and she had no idea this product existed! She LOVES IT! Helps her fingers not ache afterwards and cuts down on pinning time. Its a great gift for beginners and experts. P.S. I also use it when I'm making pillows to push out the corners after I turn it inside out. I don't have to worry about my scissors poking through the fabric.

Great choice—it is exactly as described.
Great choice—it is exactly as described. Keeps one's fingers from being all chewed up from opening and closing many safety pins.

Good concept. OK.
Good concept but I find it cumbersome to use.

Get this if you pin quilts!
Once upon a time, I thought I didn't need this tool. "Superfluous", I thought, while pinning a baby quilt. "I can just use my fingertips", I thought smugly. Then I had to pin a larger quilt before quilting it. Once I was 100 safety pins in, I paused that foolishness and ordered this tool. Apparently I was delusional about being able to pin a bed-sized quilt without it. Do not make my same foolhardy mistake! Save your fingertips while you can! Just spend the money and get this device. I would like to thank the quilter who thought this up and the person who turned that thought into reality. Simple design, no moving parts, so functional. It works so well that I don't want to go back to my old, painful methodology. Just follow the directions on the package. Unlike some quilting tools, this works equally well for righties or lefties. You'll be glad you bought this if you pin larger quilts.

If pin-basting is your thing, your fingers will thank you if you use this
When I first took up quilting, pin-basting was all the rage. I tried it, and had challenges. First, it's a painful process. Second, It made the quilt heavier when trying to quilt. Third, those pins would get caught on a corner of the machine or something, and then screw up my stitching line before I realized what had happened. Then I bought this great tool! It REALLY IS a life-saver, or I should say, a finger-saver. Totally worth it. But because of challenge #2 and #3, I tried spray-basting. My hands were sticky for a week, so I doubted it would ever wash out of my quilt. So then I tried old fashioned thread basting with a CURVED needle. Wow! I finally found my basting method of choice. But whenever I use my curved pins, this tool is absolutely essential.

Perfect Tool
I love love this tool. My fingers are no longer sore after pinning a king size quilt. They were out stock when I did my first queen size, so I looked for when they came back in stock.

Pin clip
This is an essential tool for those of us who pin quilts and then do our own quilting. It does what it says... it opens and closes those pins easily and efficiently. I give them away as gifts to new quilters.
